Got reminded of the Vancouver video game lore.

Yeah. The Feds making delinking zoning a requirement to receive the jumpstart funds for housing construction is a good start, since that NIMBY shit is what's really causing problems (in the GVRD especially).

Vancouver is one of over ten municipalities that form Greater Vancouver. The entire GVRD was affected.

Read Wikipedia. You will see the actions he took to deal with the housing problem.
So, no, he didn’t do “nothing”. Maybe you weren’t looking close enough.

Rain expected, and I'm off to go ride GVRD roads again because it's the season when the city works trucks park on the entire separated bike lane so they can do tree work.

Witness me.

Every city in the GVRD (except Vancouver & Delta) have rotating Acting Mayor schedules among members of council in case someone needs to sign something or make a public appearance & the Mayor isn’t avail. Only 1 city sees on-line partisan “celebrations” of the role fed to low-information voters 🤷‍♂️

Yeah imagine me growing up in semi rural NS with a dad who loves the Bruins and somehow I end up moving to the GVRD at 18 because I liked the Canucks and wanted to see what big city life was like haha. I don't have real ill will toward wherever, it's just sports. But no Toronto is my no go zone.

Very likely, probably on the Island or somewhere around Vancouver. I know a lot of parks in the GVRD but don’t recognize this one.

There is plenty of multidisciplinary research on the socio-cultural impact of urbanism and architecture over the last few decades, and more could be done specifically on the GVRD. At a basic level, a bungalow and a multiplex are two distinct structures. You don’t just enlarge a bungalow. They did.

So obviously, that changes what you should estimate my income.

After income tax, property tax, mortgage, daycare, food, most of my disposable income and free time is home repair. Even a giant mortgage will only buy you a decades-old shitbox in GVRD. Just lucky I can do a lot of that myself.

Anyhow, enough squinting at the slimeball "centrists" for one day. Tomorrow, I'm sticking multiple 12 watt LED modules on a bicycle. Because GVRD drivers.

I wonder is there even zoning allowed to subdivide a lot into 2-4 different ones there? Maybe that's your solution but like I said it won't be as cheap as people think. I live in the GVRD area and lots of this kind of stuff is NYMBYISM and uniformed people.

I bought an apartment in GVRD. Less than 1 million. Serving me well. You don't have to buy a single family home on its own lot if you can't afford that. 1 million goes a long way.

Metro Van as in the Metropolitan Vancouver area, formerly known as the GVRD or Greater Vancouver Regional District.
Basically it's the city of Vancouver BC and the collection of minor cities and municipalities that surround it.

I great up in the GVRD, but have lived in Saskatchewan for 20 years now. The problem is that representation by population alone means certain regions don't feel they have a fair say in locally relevant policies.
Politicians don't often take time to understand needs/concerns of these minority areas.

that’s vancouver proper. the GVRD is more like 2million i’m pretty sure without googling it

The GVRD - the highest rents in all of Canada
Time for measures to lower rents & rent control

Use public lands for social housing to solve homelessness

Stop the further displacement of vulnerable people

There are more than enough upscale condominiums

AFFORDABLE HOUSING FOR ALL! Write to Govt now
Here's how much it cost to rent a one-bedroom apartment in Metro Vancouver in May
All five of Canada's most expensive cities are located in Metro Vancouver this May.

It’ll be a good day for footy in the GVRD that’s for sure.

So Any Motorcylists in the GVRD want to share some of their favorite local roads to ride? I've been doing North River Road in Richmond, also River Rd in Tilbury as well. Others to check out?

This one of many reasons I choose not to live in the GVRD.
In Smithers, our very own Alex Cuba come home every so often to perform (with a reasonable ticket price) and hang out with locals.
We don't have busses, and only two taxi cars, so we don't have the transportation infrastructure headaches.
