#EditorialManager
Please consider serving as a job reviewer for HP OfficeJet 3550. You can sign up using EditorialManager, because even office printers have chosen to use this software for some reason.

This morning, I both got a manuscript review in before the due date and remembered my password for the journal on EditorialManager. Not a bad start to the morning! :)

Curiosity question. Finished a review recently where I was listed as R.4 on EditorialManager but letter to authors listed as R.2 (I jokingly say I am always dreaded R.2). So, why were only 2 of 4 reviews shared with authors?

The problem with automated daily reminders is that they annoy conscientious recipients and do not register with non-conscientious recipients. #EditorialManager #EnterpriseSystems

Genuine question - is there some intrinsic reason why browsers cannot cope with the editorialmanager URL to save separate logins for separate journal websites? Surely this is not an insurmountable ICT problem? Fixing this would save thousands (millions?) of wasted reviewer hours...

On the agenda for this Friday:
- meeting a new PhD student I’m co-supervising with a colleague - exciting! Always like the first day of school
- a lot of EditorialManager and editorial emails. Some of it exciting, some handling straight up hate mail (or frustrate-mail)…
- my fav cycle ride 🚴‍♀️

Every time I have to log into EditorialManager and reset my password and guess 7 times at the username/email makes me never want to review anything ever again. Surely there's a better way - please, please, let someone come up with a better way.

[Academic rant]Welke imbeciel heeft verzonnen dat je op EditorialManager voor elk tijdschrift een aparte account moet hebben?[/Academic rant]

The editorialmanager is such a poorly designed piece of software. (and yes, I had to reset my password)

To every f-ing journal that uses EditorialManager: I am tired of jumping through hoops, selecting keywords, giving you my full address, etc just to submit the review that I wrote for free. You can accept my review by email, or you can fix your system so that it doesn't ask me for even more work.

On the impossible to use editorialmanager site, the only way around keeping track of a hundred passwords for a hundred different journals is to use Orcid (what is Orcid, anyway?). To authorize Orcid, you need.... all 100 passwords, one at a time.

One major flaming hoop to jump through as reviewer are the perceived 581,432.87 different versions of EditorialManager logins we all accumulate due to random invites, changed email addresses, etc. over the years.

I'm sorry, but if it takes me more than 30 min to log in to have the honor of reviewing a paper for your journal, I probably won't get around to finishing it. I don't understand why you make me jump through so many hoops to do work for free for you

Good grief, but editorialmanager is a nightmare. I had actually decided I was going to review that manuscript, but the site is so impossible and it won't let me log in with my ORCID nor will it send me password recovery details. It's 2024 for flip's sake!

Hate #editorialmanager for when submitting papers. Doesn't update when the receiving editor actually places it in review #anticipation

Editorialmanager not working when you are waiting for papers to review and revise is always a bit stressful 😬😬😁.
July 1, 2025 at 6:46 PM
Hmm, but seems bad to make the confidential note the place for this (and how should reviewers know it is?). If you find it helpful to get (say) a one sentence summary by the reviewer, why not ask for it directly? Editorialmanager et al are bad, but do allow for that type of customization
March 16, 2025 at 7:34 PM
Oh, I discover that you can now bypass the login page on editorialmanager to accept/decline reviews

If I click the link in the mail once I get prompted with a login page, but if I go back and click again, I get immediately to the review interface.

A password manager, but just for ScholarOne and EditorialManager.

Omg, overall these decision terms do not look great (I am also using EditorialManager for many years). Is this from a Wiley journal? If yes, I would love to forward this feedback to the right people...
