The problem with automated daily reminders is that they annoy conscientious recipients and do not register with non-conscientious recipients. #EditorialManager #EnterpriseSystems

Hey EditorialManager. I just want to file my review. You want me to fill out my profile in excruciating detail before I even get there.

#EditorialManager continues to excel in the mud run approach to user interface design. Finding reviewers is hard these days. Why not make it harder?

This is great! I discovered this when I asked about the status of a paper I have submitted to the Journal of Medical Ethics. Provides much more information than the usually available in editorialmanager etc(such as whether a reviewer has accepted the invitation to review).

Editorialmanager not working when you are waiting for papers to review and revise is always a bit stressful 😬😬😁.

nothing is stupider than login credentials for academic journal editorialmanager/scholarone sites

One major flaming hoop to jump through as reviewer are the perceived 581,432.87 different versions of EditorialManager logins we all accumulate due to random invites, changed email addresses, etc. over the years.
#PeerReview #PILife
I'm sorry, but if it takes me more than 30 min to log in to have the honor of reviewing a paper for your journal, I probably won't get around to finishing it. I don't understand why you make me jump through so many hoops to do work for free for you

/EditorialManager login credential chaos has entered the chat.

Hmm, but seems bad to make the confidential note the place for this (and how should reviewers know it is?). If you find it helpful to get (say) a one sentence summary by the reviewer, why not ask for it directly? Editorialmanager et al are bad, but do allow for that type of customization

Fellow editors, you'll recognise this snip from the decision page of Editorial Manager. Any idea why we have the #Kafka button? Anybody ever used it?
February 28, 2025 at 9:48 PM
Oh, I discover that you can now bypass the login page on editorialmanager to accept/decline reviews

If I click the link in the mail once I get prompted with a login page, but if I go back and click again, I get immediately to the review interface.

[Academic rant]Welke imbeciel heeft verzonnen dat je op EditorialManager voor elk tijdschrift een aparte account moet hebben?[/Academic rant]
January 7, 2025 at 12:33 PM
Continuing the rant against the "editorialmanager" system used by Elsevier. You have to respect that it would be difficult to come up with a *worse* user interface than this one. The only truly worse pieces of software out there are the electronic health records systems used in our hospitals.

another example of the user interface of editorialmanager. Who came up with this? We academics deserve better...

Yes … this is really painful … editorialmanager is just horrible … the new SNAPP by Springer Nature is a bit better but still not 100%

Is there no limit to how many randomly-named user accounts journals can set up for potential reviewers on EditorialManager?

Curiosity question. Finished a review recently where I was listed as R.4 on EditorialManager but letter to authors listed as R.2 (I jokingly say I am always dreaded R.2). So, why were only 2 of 4 reviews shared with authors?

The editorialmanager is such a poorly designed piece of software. (and yes, I had to reset my password)
October 25, 2024 at 8:07 AM
Good grief, but editorialmanager is a nightmare. I had actually decided I was going to review that manuscript, but the site is so impossible and it won't let me log in with my ORCID nor will it send me password recovery details. It's 2024 for flip's sake!
