#Capacitive
laptops used to have so much replaceable stuff, I just had to remove 4 capacitive screws and 1 normal screw to reach this spot

this has a replaceable cpu
it's not a desktop cpu, it's a laptop cpu holy shit

would be cool if the polling places didn't have you sign your name on a touchscreen using a crappy low res capacitive rubber tip stylus, right at the bottom of the screen. outside of the first 6 letters my sig gets a little abstract on them

All depends on the feel I guess. I just read capacitive stylus and I think of those horrible things that feel like pushing a hot dog around

you're still going to have a worse experience with a capacitive touchscreen instead of resistive too

🔮 buppy keeps waiting for capacitive keyboard buttons to scroll from any surface that would be so cool

- also I find it completely insane and a bit depressing that we just don't have light gun games anymore 🤷‍♂️

Since the iPhone took off, everything has been under glass (capacitive touch) or ethereal (gestural).

I miss HEFT, force feedback, and specialised controllers.

ahahahahh fuck yeah

code's working, sensor's working, display's working. 😄

capacitive touch screens. I am so RABID that it's the norm now. fuck off, I want my physical switches and buttons.

my protogen head COMPLETELY fogged up during the acfi fursuit parade. i have a boop detector (capacitive touch sensor) and the humidity made it freak out so copper was always going >w< 😭 turns out protos need vent fans

My body is very NOT electrically conductive; I constantly have problems with capacitive touch screens. >_<

(I am just fine with resistive though, like on my DS Lite.)

Student working on capacitive touch. His touch could not trigger an event. Mine did.
Me: “Well, you are either a ghost or a vampire. But it’s ok. We are proud of our diverse student body.”

ahahahahahaha so i just had the chance to go hands on with the iphone 17 series and it looks like apple removed all the capacitive stuff from the camera control

Ordered the first small batch of prototype Fibonacci Infinity Tile 0 LED PCBs!
Already noticed my first mistake: I forgot to label the six capacitive touch mounting holes and output headers. 🤦‍♂️

To whomever decided that capacitive buttons on a dishwasher was a good idea:

I hope after your death your family erased all of your existence from history and you spend eternity in a forgotten void of nothing

PreEVT stage iPhone 17 Pro, Apple tried to replace the Camera Control with a Digital Crown and dedicated shutter button. This was in response to user feedback about the lack of tactility from a capacitive button.

This did not make it to production.

Watching samsung fold 7 reviewers cope with the loss of the s-pen with the same garbage non-touch capacitive pens of the 2010s is a schadenfreude I never thought I'd have

Being able to draw or paint anywhere without sketch fomo or the actual mess of real media is so freeing as an artist.

Yet another reason I'd need capacitive coating for my claws and pads as a latex coyote: all these "haha we're just friends" payment processors who don't have physical buttons for PIN entry on their card terminals.
September 18, 2025 at 2:47 PM
to go one further, I think all buttons should have a capacitive input, to know when your fingers are resting in a specific posture before you press.

I genuinely think this combined with much much tighter documentation and demos of practical worth woul dhave shown the effective value of them.

went to the trouble of ordering an artist's glove from the US because the only one you can get here is capacitive

it's capacitive

the one thing the leaf did right was a charger on the centerline.

also i *hate* the nacs handles from tesla. capacitive touch buttons are never the correct solution. hopefully other mfrs just use a normal physical latch.

Showing off the functions of the LCARS display base.

1/1400 Enterprise E commissioned build.

Effects using addressable RGB LEDs with Scalectronics.

ADAfruit capacitive touch sensors are installed underneath the acrylic.

*: Technically, I *used* to have a table top lamp, but it wasn't all that useful to me at the time, so I'd converted it into a wall-mounted light over my mirror. It has capacitive touch buttons, for convenience!

I got it for points from #ThinkGeek. A treasured memory. =^.^=

Well the KZ Xtra earbuds aren’t as graceful as the AirPods Pro, but they sound a lot better. Not just bass but the upper range as well. Annoying that they have capacitive controls though. But they’re a good alternative if you don’t want to spend $279 for new AirPods when the mic breaks past warranty

Oh those fucking screen printed indicators for where the capacitive sensors are always vanish. Screen printing on glass was never meant to last very long. Echhh. That's why it needs to be etched and then backfilled with something.

Update... the faceplate did, specifically the capacitive Power/Disc Eject buttons.
So it means extra investment with a full replacement & with that housing and new PSU already made it $65+taxes so far.
With that, mentally preparing when the times comes for new thermal paste.
