YouTube is weird...

I explicitly turned off ads and set 18+ only on the latest video... then just now I get an eMail from YouTube saying, "BTW: We've disabled monetization for your video. Remember, it's up to you to set your video settings appropriately." and I'm just like I FREAKING DID...??? o_O

Just started playing Pokémon Legends ZA and something I find amusing is the battle system has some striking similarities to what I had envisioned for my own PixelShips 2 years ago: A quad of diamonds representing abilities with cooldowns. Though in my game they can also be weapons to fire. :B

One of the more recent persons to start supporting me through Patreon has a very unusual username that's multiple words long. I didn't think anything of it at first but I just had the thought that maybe I should run it through Google Translate...

The Result: "I have an itch on my balls"

So I just beat Metroid Prime 4 on normal difficulty...

Pros: Raw gameplay is mostly solid, more like Prime 2 than 1 or 3, really good graphics and solid 60 FPS on Switch 1.

Cons: Worst ending of any Metroid game ever, yes, even worse than Other M. Also, collecting green energy suuuuuuuuucks... >_<

Hey that's neat... I'm looking through a selection of DVD/BluRay from Shout Factory right now and it seems they offer the first few seasons of the original Super Sentai for western markets now, as in, the show which spawned Power Rangers from its later seasons! :o

Task for Project AB tonight was to get the asynchronous L-Code calculation routine implemented and I did indeed get it working! :D

"L-Codes" are the method by which the game decides what order to run logic in for all objects in the game world with logic linked between each other. :B

...I just figured out something EXTREMELY pertinent...

Since doing the major Win 11 update, apps I had forced not to power throttle through the powercfg command line utility were once again being throttled when in the background, so I looked more into how powercfg /POWERTHROTTLE actually works...-

Interesting...

After only six hours of gameplay I've already beaten the next game for ADG, despite never playing the full game until now... :o

*shrugs* I mean, it started getting stupid-hard for the wrong reasons near the end so I guess it doesn't overstay its welcome. :P

So... can anyone guess what game I'm playing? >;)

Hint #1: It's an NES game.

Hint #2: Yes, the game has crashed.

Hint #3: This is easily repeatable and I technically did not do anything out of the ordinary, other than using a built-in cheat to play the game in an unintended way.

THE HALIKAN LIVES

The Chaplet Halikan LA-30 is an interesting 80s laptop on its own but this one busting into 1000 pieces & being restored by PolyMatt takes it to another level. Let's dive into using the PC itself, its odd quirks, and its small but fascinating spot in history!

The biggest irony of this graph is that late 2023 was when Unity decided to introduce their braindead idea of "Runtime Fees" which is almost certainly the reason for the major shift in the 2024 stats.

And now that more people are discovering Godot Engine, they ain't goin' back! ;)
The 2026 Global Game Jam #GGJ26 was last weekend, so let's take a look at their historical data for engine usage.

📈 @godotengine.org is having a good run!

#Godot is now firmly established as the #2 engine in game jams (correlated by #GMTKJam data), rapidly closing the gap with #Unity.

I had to learn more about Blender's rendering algorithms and material handling than I ever cared to, but in the end, I have made my OWN mid-day, HDR, cloudscape environment map! :)
February 3, 2026 at 12:09 PM
I have Blender set to burn a bit over half of my CPU's total available power and it's estimating a render time of 3 1/2 hours now that I've tweaked the render parameters... Might actually be done before I go to bed. :B
February 3, 2026 at 8:55 AM
So I've run into an obnoxious problem trying to make my clouds...

Because it's all volumetrics in Blender, I need to use the Cycles renderer. Cycles works on a premise of "denoising" an image, so generally renders with it look very grainy without additional post-denoising following.-
February 3, 2026 at 7:57 AM
Getting there... Probably want to do a few more minor tweaks to get these clouds looking their best, then will do a final render, properly cap the HDR values manually, and see where it all ends up! :B
February 3, 2026 at 4:38 AM
Got a little more work done on my cloudscape, enough that I could finally pull it over into Godot and test it out...

...annnnnd... it completely blew out the lighting. XD

At least now I know I can work in smaller lighting units in Blender, but it means I have to readjust all of my colours. :P
February 2, 2026 at 12:21 PM
Oh well now that's freaking obnoxious...

I WAS about 12 hours into my Metroid Prime 4 run, when all of a sudden the game world disappeared short of the sky and my framerate dropped to 10 SPF. (Yes, TEN SECONDS PER FRAME.)

...this gets worse...-
