The chip got the motor running but apparently I lost some springs in the button mechanism that are way too tiny and thin to find
Going to finally find out of it was the issue. All the other components around it seemed to test okay, so hopefully it's the solution

I'm about 75% sure this IC is the issue. It's a governor for DC motors
When I plug it in the LED eyes light up but it doesn't start playing. I know the motor works but it's not being controlled by pressing play
So it's gotta be this chip, right?

Here is my current small project - a 2004 Walkman WM-FX197. Taking this apart wasn't too bad, but belt access is rather cramped. I'm attempting this without a soldering gun, hopefully this works out 🙏🏽📼
