#Astroturfing
If it turns out to have been an Astroturfing campaign, tell the masses I called it.

Regarding Melania...
There's definitely an Astroturfing campaign going on within Rotten Tomatoes.
There is absolutely no way in Hell it is unironically enjoyable by the common man.

I feel for the journalists who've drawn the short straw.

I mean bigots have a shitty sense of humor! They'll say the left can't meme and post something that would get you thrown out of a normal country and think it's high comedy.

Some in the dem party want to capitulate there too! Huge astroturfing for newsom as he rubs chins with Bannon and the like.

One ugly lesson we as a society will have to grapple with in the next decade is how vulnerable the foundations of liberal-democratic society are to political astroturfing and the influence of business in enacting harmful public policy and how diseducation plus astroturfing perpetuates fascism.

Put it this way: if someone was astroturfing ticket sales, there is no way they’d stop at a measly $7m. That’s a remarkable flop, by any other standard.

I think the only time we fell for the cabals ‘astroturfing’ campaigns recently was at the Referendum but then again those famously fail so…?

A bit further out was when we maybe fell for Morrison over Shorten but I think that was Bill not being popular. I think that’s when we learnt.

Lo de "trend viral de caricaturas con chatgpt" es puro astroturfing
February 7, 2026 at 2:12 AM
Largely agreed, but it sucks with how much more astroturfing is getting added in. The various “unfiltered” news sites and shit.

I nearly got got this morning because r/sciences got thrown into my feed.

I’ve muted at least a dozen like that at this point just unavoidably thrown on my front page

this is absolutely some flavor of fedpost/foreign psyop/astroturfing, no way someone would type out this message as a sincere point.

enshittification companies that trademark specific jargon are the worst

i can't use the proper word for a pack of bicyclists without getting flooded by ads and astroturfing...

the way a24 tries to shovel movies down into the eyeballs of audiences is like you are fed up before the movie even comes out, astroturfing is the opposite of curiosity
February 6, 2026 at 10:08 PM
having been on the other side at the time, I think the extent to which the astroturfing was *opportunistic* versus planned in advance is underrated
February 6, 2026 at 9:41 PM
even more than the astroturfing (though that made it feasible), the tea party was made by the most partisan and ideologically polarized people in the base deciding to take a chance at doing it themselves
February 6, 2026 at 9:38 PM
turns out it was a fake account, just some slopper making a clumsy attempt at astroturfing

Newsom does not support trans people. He supports ICE, billionaires, and zionists. He's a genocidal freak and I'm tired of his astroturfing
February 6, 2026 at 8:14 PM
Seeing a lot of the same 'AI is good, actually' astroturfing we got when this bullshit was first forced on us. I wonder why that is?
February 6, 2026 at 6:53 PM
Oh, most definitely.

It feels so much like something from a plant. Like Satya had paid her to help with astroturfing the "LLMs aren't actually bad and pieces of shit" narrative.
February 6, 2026 at 6:05 PM
It is likely influenced by political organizations and campaigns paying people to do astroturfing and psy-ops.
It is responsible for the people hired to be annoying political simp dickwads as well as the bot farms.
Only solution would be to change the ToS and ban the people involved in that shit.
February 6, 2026 at 5:22 PM
It makes no sense.

(well, it's great astroturfing spam abuse designed to wreck from a [fall '24] account, but it lacks *internal* logic)
Treating people, who follow their consciences and vote differently than you wish they would, as if they were both

a) [disposable, powerless, assholes worthy of only scorn]

AND SIMULTANEOUSLY

b) [an impactful voting block whose votes are needed for future elections]

is irrational.

Just desperate astroturfing. Seriously pathetic stuff.

Len u nás to bude do 100 ľudí.

You could see the media machine and astroturfing getting traction and the democratic response was to basically tell the country that it was Hillary's turn or something. I try to never underestimate the power and predictability of human stupidity, so when he won I was just like "I knew it."
February 6, 2026 at 10:49 AM
the astroturfing is definitely here btw
February 6, 2026 at 10:25 AM
You made a very valid point re: how these accounts are also undermining the LGBTQ+ community. I don’t think most folks recognize what a 21st century civil war looks like. The disinformation, chaos, and astroturfing are just as damaging, as any other attacks. It’s exhausting, at times.
