One ugly lesson we as a society will have to grapple with in the next decade is how vulnerable the foundations of liberal-democratic society are to political astroturfing and the influence of business in enacting harmful public policy and how diseducation plus astroturfing perpetuates fascism.

I think the only time we fell for the cabals ‘astroturfing’ campaigns recently was at the Referendum but then again those famously fail so…?

You made a very valid point re: how these accounts are also undermining the LGBTQ+ community. I don’t think most folks recognize what a 21st century civil war looks like. The disinformation, chaos, and astroturfing are just as damaging, as any other attacks. It’s exhausting, at times.
