There are a few alt-folk & folk-funk singers who made magical albums in the 60s & 70s & whose beautiful music is now being rediscovered & rereleased

IMHO, Kathy Smith’s “It’s Taking So Long,” from the 1971 album Kathy Smith 2, is one of the greatest songs of the ‘70s

Because we started questioning everything. I think the late boomers (60s+) and then genx started the “fuck you I won’t do what you tell me” questioning and talking back to authority.

Patricia Brown, also known as Patty B, has barely any online presence and haven't been involved in candidate forums. She lives in Evanston. She’s in her 60s. The only Black African American woman in the race. Her campaign website lacks detailed policy information.

I don't think we had central heating until the late 60s when my parents moved to a new build.

The little 12-45mm f/4 PRO gets snubbed because people are like 'ugh, M43 already has too much DOF' but, it's really good optics and the right size for a carry-around zoom and I will always advocate for it.

Hmm what should I do on this balmy day? Supposed to get into the 60s (🖕😜 )

So obviously the most important thing when writing a book is to procrastinate with the writing by thinking about a cover image. Option 1: this AI-generated interpretation of the prompt ‘Italian variety television 1950s, 60s, 70s’

🏳️‍⚧️I’m starring in #RIOTQUEENS, a play that tells a bit of trans history in the 60s… Compton Cafeteria Riots, n I’m suffering a strange mind doubling living Now, then rehearsing lines about cops beating us n landlords denying us. Bathrooms shut to us. Fighting to change things, to be seen as human.

I’ve had this tape ‘Space Adventures’ - that compiles stock music used in 60s Doctor Who - for ages, was given it by a friend in the late 90s. Does anyone know if this is how it was distributed by DWAS - on a Maxell ‘blank’? The example on discogs has printed labels.

You couldn't really do that there were a lot of housebreakers in the 60s

Before websites, SEO, and ads—there was direct mail. In the 60s and 70s, fence contractors relied on mail drops, and the truth is... they still work. This strategy gets overlooked in today’s digital rush, but it can be a powerful way to reach local homeowners.

As a child in the 60s those assassinations (+JFK’s) formed my view of America as a violent society. Coming of age in the 70s and learning about US led regime change abroad, foreign assassinations, training & support of Central American death squads, etc cemented my view. The lie of WMD … 1/2

Now I see Coventry as a fascinating place: destroyed in a single night in WW2, rebuilt as a 60s utopia that aged badly. Medieval fragments survive which hint at how beautiful it used to be, the old cathedral ruin is genuinely affecting (the new one, less so).

In my youth, I had several shit jobs.
As I'm now in my 60s, I'd sooner work one of them for 1980s minimum wage again than do what these men/women do in the middle of bad weather/sub-freezing temps.

Hats off.

This thread is interesting but also scary. Folks involved in the anti-war protests in the 60s and 70s professing how things now are worse.
I wonder, however, how Black Americans involved in the civil rights movement would compare then to now, since racism was so all pervasive in people’s lives.
I need to hear from the folks in the 60/70s and protesting Vietnam (and everything else)...did shit feel as corrupt, unjust, overwhelming, and impossible to overcome as they do now? Not inviting you to compare, more how you felt in the moment, not knowing what you know now

Ten minutes of Radio City life on board Shivering Sands in the mid 60s, shot by Leon Tipler. Some of this stuff gives me shivers. So evocative. I love the choice of "You've Got Your Troubles" by The Fortunes on the soundtrack. Usually a signal to shore that something was very, wrong...

There were a lot of children's programmes in the 60s and even early 70s which had a slightly sunshine pop/ popsike/ trippy folky thing going on. I'm sure somebody could pull together a compilation (not a playlist, hardly any of these things seem to be out there on streaming).

My wife and I are well into our 60s and we love it.

It’s weird though because that didn’t hit until much later (at least in Germany) because in the 50s and 60s it was seen as going too far
