2025 was definitely the return of the point-and-shoot's relevance, and I remain convinced that brands that haven't embraced that yet have set themselves up to already be behind.

One thing about the OM system from a historical perspective that's hard to really appreciate now is just what a radical feat of miniaturization they were. It of course lit a fire under everyone else and by the 80s many SLRs had shrank to match it. But, when it launched, it was notably smaller.

I need you all to know that this is NOT a professional camera, as I do not make any money using it. (Also because the winder and flash are 'consumer' pieces, but, I feel like there's less Oly gang on here to know to call that out)

What's a "bike lane?"
December 26, 2025 at 2:07 PM
Back when I first started bike commuting people would ask me all the time “what do you do when it rains?”

“I get wet”

Six days left in the year. Today I get the accessory finder for the Retina IIIc, and the AG-1 flash for the Minox B. Despite my claims to be done with film for the winter I have film in seven cameras anyway. Year's still not done until that dang ball drops.

Kodak Charmera

To back up my claim about the exposure, 430 shots so far in all sorts of light and every single one has the same exposure: f/3.0, 1/50, ISO 153
December 26, 2025 at 2:03 AM
One thing I adore about the pixel mode on the Charmera is how reductive it gets in unfavorable light. I'm pretty sure the whole camera is working with one exposure setting then adjusting the exposure with gain before applying NR. The pixel mode is applied -after- all that.

I had to find this photo earlier to reference how terrible those ‘potato wedges’ were but behold, the rare Indiana tenderloin with a to-scale bun!

The nibbles started off cold on the Charmeras but they seem to be getting some attention now. More importantly, now I can get mine out.

Now -that- is a modern Leica optic worth coveting

Oh, look, a camera that was marketed specifically to professionals. In characteristic and proper black, of course.

I, too, have an employee discount and a situationship with my credit card
At MIL’s for Xmas today.
“Did you bring your camera?”
“…yes.”

I have a Charmera, OM-1, Zf, and Pen F with me.

I would not have all these but for employee purchase discounts and a situationship with my credit card…

Anyway I’m getting photos of the family pupper, a Golden named Heidi.

Got back to watching Transformers: EarthSpark, and I still like the somehow-even-more-woke Transformers.

Here's some unedited photos from the Sony CDMavica CD500 (yes, it's called that because it literally burns the images on a CD-RW to save them).

Spot yours truly in one of the photos!

The "if you're cold they're cold" trend reminds me, it's never not a good time for August Derleth's short story about snow vampires but right now is a great time for it:
