The comparison is even more pronounced against the Mamiya-made body that was originally made as the Nikon Nikkorex F.

One thing about the OM system from a historical perspective that's hard to really appreciate now is just what a radical feat of miniaturization they were. It of course lit a fire under everyone else and by the 80s many SLRs had shrank to match it. But, when it launched, it was notably smaller.

I need you all to know that this is NOT a professional camera, as I do not make any money using it. (Also because the winder and flash are 'consumer' pieces, but, I feel like there's less Oly gang on here to know to call that out)

What's a "bike lane?"
December 26, 2025 at 2:07 PM
Back when I first started bike commuting people would ask me all the time “what do you do when it rains?”

“I get wet”

Aha! I thought so. Perry was my pre-focus stand-in for this.

Whether or not you're into puppers I think this counts as one of my more brag-worthy photos of the year because YOU try photographing one with this

To back up my claim about the exposure, 430 shots so far in all sorts of light and every single one has the same exposure: f/3.0, 1/50, ISO 153

And I mean like, really reductive. But I find trying to figure out how to use that to my advantage fun. How abstract can something be and still read? And how can I play with the blocking of forms against the light changes?

One thing I adore about the pixel mode on the Charmera is how reductive it gets in unfavorable light. I'm pretty sure the whole camera is working with one exposure setting then adjusting the exposure with gain before applying NR. The pixel mode is applied -after- all that.

I had to find this photo earlier to reference how terrible those ‘potato wedges’ were but behold, the rare Indiana tenderloin with a to-scale bun!

Oh, look, a camera that was marketed specifically to professionals. In characteristic and proper black, of course.

Since the void is currently on his vapors, an old photo from when he still tipped the scales more towards cute than chaos.

Fun (?) fact: the 'director's notes' in the binder in this photo are printouts of Baroness Elsa Von Freytag-Lorighoven's hand-written poetry. The outfit the central woman on stage is wearing was chosen from the catalog of a local designer with Elsa's energy, based on similarity to outfits she wore.

Also I just like how the light sensor for the non-TTL auto mode is hidden in the O. That's cute.

Why are the T-series flashes more useful specifically on the 2n? Well, because the 2n added a third hotshoe pin so that when the flash is recharged and ready it can light an indicator lamp in the viewfinder. Sounds small but it's a nice quality of life feature.
