Because the #1921Census took place in June, it picks up quite a few holidaymakers. #Genchat

I have finally found my grandmother in the #1921Census. I had already established that there was no entry for her address at 64 Dibley Street. It appears she was on holiday with her mother and sisters at the seaside (Cullercoats) where they are all listed as boarders. #Genchat

Lots more to do with the #1921Census at Ancestry, for my Fawsley #OnePlaceStudy, my Atcherley #OneNameStudy, & my #FamilyHistory. But for now, I've finished linking the 48 Waters Upton household schedules to the 191 people recorded on them & made tons of corrections/additions to the transcriptions.

Still working through the Waters Upton schedules of the #1921Census. I've reached an address at The Harebutts, and rediscovered this name (not an #OccupationOfTheDay), which I am absolutely, definitely, positively not laughing at like a schoolboy. Time to bring back The Rude Genealogist?

I'm working through the #1921Census schedules for Waters Upton, in #Shropshire, attaching records to people in my #OnePlaceStudy tree/forest at Ancestry. Slow progress as I'm tackling all the incorrect / missing data as I go, but I've now processed 24 of 48 households. #OnePlaceWednesday
For many #OnePlaceStudy researchers the #1921Census of England & Wales won't be new. It's arrival on Ancestry however (complete with Findmypast's transcriptions) broadens its availability. Have you been checking it out for your English / Welsh / Manx / Channel Island study places? #OnePlaceWednesday

#genealogy Trying to browse the #1921Census on Ancestry and I'm seeing a lot of this in the image viewer:

"Unable to load transcribed data: Features such as highlighting, hover tips, and the index panel may be unavailable."

Enjoying posts about the #1921Census today. Here’s something which touched me in the entry written by my great-grandfather: he’s used the ‘language spoken’ box (ie Welsh &/or English) to show his pride in a daughter who knew French.

And the reason why the #1921Census transcriptions at Ancestry are as bad as FMP's? They are FMP's transcriptions! I looked at this individual and his household at FMP and exactly the same errors are there. Now replicated word for mangled word at Ancestry. #Genealogy
My experience of the 1921 census at Ancestry so far is that the quality of their transcriptions of this source is a bad as FMP's. In one person's entry: James = Jances; Dover, Kent = Kent; Waters = Wales; Brass = Broad; Tower Rd, Aston, Birmingham = Dowe Rs Acton Hammersmith. 🙄
Researching the daughter of a one-time resident of my Waters Upton #OnePlaceStudy and thinking "It would be handy if the 1921 census was on Ancestry right now instead of tomorrow." Just clicked on the Search button on her profile page in my OPS tree on Ancestry and there she is on the 1921 census! 😀
