Every year on #Halloween we carve a #Pumpkin from our collection of Penguin Books. 🎃

We're up to our elbows here in juicy plots and seedy characters. Luckily there's not much pulp fiction. 🎃

In terms of #genealogy writing: I finished my last Pharos assignment of the year, and I have a couple of writing projects on the go - writing my own history, making sure I have written proofs for all my direct ancestors researched to date plus WikiTree bios. #genchat

#FAN club for the win! I have wondered for many years how a woman from Marylebone, London ended up marrying someone who lived in rural Shropshire. Just discovered that she was in service to a family that had an estate in Shropshire - that was a direct neighbour to the estate her husband worked on.

Not a good look #Ancestry
The recent decision in Ancestry v NRS. The Ancestry case is even cheekier than I realised - they want all the images, plus the indexes and the hyperlinks between the two.

I've been doing genealogy for just under two years and I've learned an immense amount from amateur and professional genealogists on social media: day to day comments, links to online resources, blogs, vlogs and to forthcoming events and thoughts on dilemmas. In short, they've taught me what to do.

This week I’ve been working on the proof for my book, requesting a tweak here and there to make it beautiful for my readers. I’ve also got to choose which option to go for for the cover. #Genealogy #MethodsAndTechniques #Author #BookComing2026 #Exciting

#genchat ICE: No! I've never even looked. I don't think it had registered with me that there was even audio/video on there. I usually look at Wayback Machine or books.

Very excited to wake up this morning to a surprise announcement that RootsMagic11 has dropped. I've got my key but still need to faff around to create my folders and install it. #treeverne #genchat

Many of my bunny trails are where a DNA case grabs me. The most memorable being a missing father who had married bigamously 5x and was even living a double life at one time appearing in the 1930 census twice with 2 different families. That one was more of a warren than a trail 🤣 #genchat.

I think one of my favourite bunny trails was the wife of a couple who separated. He was a relative but I was looking for her death just to tie up the loose ends. And I couldn’t find her anywhere. It eventually led me to all sorts of shenanigans and a court case for bigamy in the newspapers #genchat
