This local Wolfdog joined an Olympic ski event and triggered the finish-line camera. This is Nazgul. He snuck into a cross-country skiing sprint this morning and raced the homestretch with some competitors before being escorted home. 14/10 someone get him a medal

Seems like a good time to mention the Bokkja i bakken (The Dog on the Hill) statue at the Holmenkollen Ski jump in Oslo - created by Elene Engelsen to celebrate the fact that the escape of a dog onto the jump happened so often it almost became tradition (photo (c) me from a trip last July)

For more than a thousand years, dogs have pulled sleds across the Arctic for Inuit seal hunters and fishermen. But this winter, in the town of Ilulissat, around 300km (186 miles) north of the Arctic Circle, that’s not possible.
A Greenland sled dog champion fears for his culture as climate change melts the ice
Dog sled culture in northern Greenland is at risk as climate change is causing the ice and snow to melt. In January, temperatures in the town of Ilulissat should be well below freezing but this year there was no snow and ice.
