New rules continue to be added at a fast pace. More importantly, our detailed assessment allows us to measure their quality. Ambition has risen significantly since 2020, and a bit less (but still some) since 2024.

Climate change - from CO₂ to crisis. It starts with accumulation of greenhouse gas emissions but leads to multiple global repercussions. Climate change isn’t a distant threat — it’s a systemic chain reaction already in motion & steadily increasing in severity.

The 1.5°C target is dead. That makes carbon removal MORE urgent, not less. Climate advocates have rallied for clean energy but stayed silent as Trump canceled CDR projects. Democrats must embrace all climate solutions the climate crisis demands. #Climate #COP30 open.substack.com/pub/paulinaj...

The energy transition is unambiguously under way — even though it is still not fast enough, still too heavily reliant on China’s domestic efforts, and the progress that has been made occurred before Trump began doing his best to prolong the life of fossil fuels.

What of the alternative that Helm suggests, "a bottom-up coalition of unilateralist countries on carbon targets"? Germany tried this in the G7 in 2023, but when the US rejects climate science and China and Russia continue to push fossil fuels, there are few large emitters to make such a club work.
