I have long been a critic of BICS and CALP but is probably the worst depiction of it I have seen. The biggest problem is the assumption that art is less cognitively demanding than science. But even if you buy that “calling someone on the phone” could be to talk to them about a science experiment.

If you’re a professor in a classroom today & you don’t mention this, I believe you’re doing your students a profound disservice. This is targeted 1st at international students, but it’s deliberately broad enough to lay groundwork for a scene Trump & Hegseth have fantasized: troops on campus.

caretakers of this child need to be charged with murder

Faculty/Staff: “Will you publicly state that?”

Universities abandon DEI to protect funding.

Funding gets cut anyway.

Now Universities start pushing back.

Sorry, you’ve already shown how easy you’ll roll over.

Helpful note: if the DC office isn't picking up,
you can also call your reps' local offices. Per another user, "Tap the dots to right of the DC number and local office numbers come up."
Okay, I cannot recommend 5calls.org enough. Enter your address and it will find all your reps (federal and state). AND give you a list of issues to call about AND which reps to call about each of them AND a little script for each, in case it's helpful. They have an app, too.
5 Calls
Spend 5 minutes. Make 5 calls. Make your voice heard.

Just completed my 3rd round of reviewing for Spencer Foundation Small Grants. Here are my Top 4 suggestions:
1. You need a robust data analysis plan!
2. The methods should be detailed & at least 1/3 of the proposal!
3. Less is more. ONE clear study, not multiple!
4. Include a theoretical lens!
