AI's infiltration of films, music, painting — even sculpture — is inspiring new resistance to tech in art, and putting a premium on work that's purely human.
As AI marches into art, humanity is a selling point
Art has long been seen as a uniquely human endeavor, making AI's advance into this realm especially unsettling.

In Monrovia, California, protesters are purchasing 17¢ ICE scrapers from Home Depot and immediately returning them to create long lines and slow down the entire store. Their aim is to disrupt sales and convey a message opposing ICE raids occurring in their neighborhood.

Multiple federal judges have ruled he has.
Oddly enough, in media coverage of Dems' video warning against carrying out illegal orders, there's very little discussion of *whether it's actually reasonable to fear Trump is giving illegal commands or not.*

The evidence is strong that he is. Media should say so:

You can never predict the exact form of Trump’s death threats (or death charge, a la Jan 6) or random murders, such as his killings at sea or his illegal termination of USAID. You can only rely on the sociopathy of his cult and the pusillanimity and complicity of Republicans in Congress.
Here's a transcript of the key exchange:

ME: You filled out a form which essentially says, ‘who delivered this threat,’ and your office wrote in ‘Donald J. Trump.’

HOULAHAN: 'The President.'

The press corps sure could do a better job of challenging Trump when he lies, when he refuses to answer questions, when he attacks colleagues. The first reporter who says to him, "Why are you being such a jerk?" will become a folk hero. And i hope he or she keeps their job.
I’ve been thinking and it’s kind of exceptional that not a single person said “Hey now” after the piggy comment.

NEW: One of the big mysteries of the Jeffrey Epstein case is, what was Donald Trump thinking? I dig into that puzzle in my OUR LAND newsletter.

And congratulations to the Epstein survivors who have fought so long for the vote today to release the files.

Are Dems ready to put any Republican names in the Epstein files? MAGA thinks it's Dems only. Certainly it isn't.

Had a great conversation with @gregsargent.bsky.social about the latest Epstein emails and their implications for the current MAGA civil war.
Really unnerving point from Nicole Hemmer, historian of the right: Trump's Epstein fiasco could drive MAGA to push him to go even fuller authoritarian, because the whole project is now in such serious doubt. She's so good on MAGA's future.

Democrats, don’t let the word “socialist” spook you. I’m not Democratic socialist, but I’m damn proud to be part of a party big enough to hold all of us.

FACT: Republicans call every Democrat a socialist, It’s all they’ve got.

And, who doesn’t love that Republicans are having melt down over it.

And they'd only stress-test such a thing if they're looking to expand on the test in the future.
