The Aukus nuclear submarine deal and Australia’s involvement in military conflicts will be considered by a secretive new committee of federal parliament, dubbed a “closed shop” by the Greens over plans to exclude minor parties and independents.
Everything else is s**t

Albanese Ley to decide members of ‘secret’ new committee set to scrutinise Aukus –but Greens excluded
No more than seven government MPs will b appointed but Greens and independents will not be included

Labor’s draft laws were written to fast-track corporate profit.

Now, native forest logging will be included under Federal enviro laws, after being exempt for over two decades.

We’ve closed the loopholes for land clearing, giving protections to critical habitat & the reef.

But Labor still refuses to take meaningful climate action.

They refuse to take into account climate damage when approving a coal or gas project.

This is the best we could get from a party captured by its fossil fuel donors.

But we’ll keep fighting.

The Greens have secured enviro laws with new protections for native forests & stopped Labor from fast-tracking coal & gas.

We’ve got outcomes that forest campaigners have fought for across decades.

We’ve made it harder for big corporations to keep wrecking our environment.

unfortunately, choosing a 'fixer' instead of a principled approach to what sustains our lives & livelihoods seems entirely consistent with the worldview & modus operandi of the Albo govt
🧵The @albomp.bsky.social govt’s regard for the environment lies somewhere between indifference & hostility

Devolving Cwealth powers of enviro protection to the states & territories under Bilateral Agreements is a continuation of the contempt with which they have treated environmental policy-making:
Devolving Commonwealth powers for environmental protection & assessment to states & territories is a longstanding goal of Big Business that the LNP repeatedly failed to accomplish

Silence on corporate welfare, taxing the rich/corporations.

UK state pension is almost the worst in Europe.
2m retirees live in poverty. 110,000 a year die in fuel poverty.

How many pensioners does the IFS kill?

Carbon removal isn’t an option I’m afraid. There is simply no extant or likely future tech, nature based or mechanical, that can do this at a scale relevant for climate policy. This was a pretty disappointing discovery for me too 😞. Also adds to the urgency of ending fossil carbon burning.
November 26, 2025 at 8:20 AM
Science is crystal clear here. Our only chance to recover back to a stable and safe climate is to accelerate the phase-out of fossil-fuels, remove carbon and invest in nature (on land and in the ocean), and do that without trading off between them.
