Im just a personified dumpster fire. 🇺🇸🇩🇰
I mostly post random thoughts and such here.
Currently interested in Danish and Napoleonic history, and will chat your ear off about DJ Larrey or Frederik VI if you let me.
It never ceases to amaze me that this is inner city Copenhagen.

This 17th-century watch is a "memento mori," a reminder of the shortness of life. The inscription roughly translates: "Thus passes wordly glory remember your end." It was sold by Christies in 2017 for £12.5K.

This silver rattle from 1810 has a red coral stick to promote easier dentition. Belief in the potency of red coral to ensure good luck has existed for thousands of years. In Italy and some parts of Scotland it is still used to avert the "evil eye".

I’ve got a question for the Europeans who see this:
Why do so many of you bring up school shootings when I grumble about something minor? Like when I grumble about Danish kids using fuck as a filler word or about food?
Must we involve murdered children in an umbrella excuse to shut Americans up?

This!
There’s a book I’ve been looking at getting, but can only get in ebook form.
On Amazon, an edition on kindle (and restricted to just kindle) is 25usd. Straight from the publisher! It’s 10usd and unrestricted. I can get it in pdf format if I wanted.

His mother says he has been tortured by authorities at the airport. The reason, if any, for his detention is not known.
A New Hampshire man with a green card was detained by immigration officers at Logan Airport and is being held by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement at the Donald W. Wyatt detention facility in Central Falls, Rhode Island.

Green card holder from New Hampshire 'interrogated' at Logan Airport, detained
Fabian Schmidt’s family said they are unsure of why he is being held. They said he has a recently renewed green card, and no active issues in court.

Something I’ve discovered today:
In the US, I would be consider pretty liberal. No radical left, but liberal.

In Denmark- and based off of the 12 biggest parties, I’m nearly radical right. Pretty conservative.

It’s just wild to think about for me.

No longer do I go to Frederiksborg just to stare at hot men and old things
I now go to Frederiksborg with the intention go learn of the life stories of these people.

And still look at the hot men. That much is never going to change.

Two Liston amputation knives made by Young & Sons, Edinburgh in the mid-19th century. Engraved on the lid is the name of the owner: "Dr. James D. Gillespie". James D. Gillespie, M.D., FRSEd, was a contemporary of James Syme, & Assistant Surgeon to the Royal Infirmary Edinburgh.

Apparently Monday morning is the best time to see Frederiksborg.
The only soul I’ve seen here is the security and a couple of older ladies.
No loud chatter, nobody acting like buffoons when it comes to looking at the paintings. Just me.

You know you’ve been to a museum a lot when you can notice even the smallest of changes.
Like today, when I noticed they added a few new items in a few of the cases at Rosenborg.
I see what yall are doing curators. I’m just please to see more Frederik VI stuff.

Then there’s the stupid cold sore I thought I got, only for it to completely disappear the next day.
I can’t figure this out and it’s frustrating. I just want to get my school work done and go find a job.
It appears I’ve fallen ill with a bug that likes to play games.
It hits me and I feel horrible, and then the next day I feel fine. Then the next day I hits me again. It’s happened thrice already, and I’ve been feeling like I’ve been hit by a train on and off for nearly two weeks now.

Thanks for all the kind messages after yesterday's wobble. 💙

The “Heart Book” from c.1550 is a collection of 83 Danish love ballads collected at the court of King Christian III. It's the oldest known Danish manuscript of its kind, and an early example of the heart signifying romantic love.

Its a good day for us (non French speaking) napoleonic medical history folks.
Some of Percy’s journals have been translated into English.
It’s 200 late, but better late then never.

2025 feels like a bad omen, honestly.
All this chaos in the world, plus all the chaos at home (I’ve been more or less kicked out of my previous home and living with another relative. And that’s just the big thing)
It’s barely been two weeks!
