I used to be (at)malebariusrex in olden times at the bird site. Sound tech. Comics. RPG. Accessibility.
We are all in the gutter but some of us are gazing down, into the muck.
Gently insincere.
I didn't think I'd see "Hitler didn't go far enough" becoming mainstream political discourse but I guess here we are.
Fuentes, yesterday: “Our #1 political enemy is women because women constrain everything, every conversation, every man, everything. They have to be imprisoned. They are the ones that are hurting the fertility rate. They're the ones making us sympathetic to poor people, which are also brown people.”
Nick Fuentes: “The number one political enemy in America is women. … They have to be imprisoned.”

Ooh, opposite day again!
Homan: "ICE is a legitimate federal law enforcement agency. We're not out scouring the streets to disappear people or deny people their civil rights or due process."

I have learned some pretty great AI skills which is how to disable it in everything I use.

I saw that movie when a cinema here had an anime festival. My mate told me this was on and we just got tickets for a film that was on at a convenient time without reading anything about it. We were expecting ninja maybe or giant robots.
It's amazing to watch Grave of the Fireflies and then see what movie Takahata thought he was making.

Takahata was like "no, its not anti-war. It's not a tragedy, you shouldn't cry. It's not a heartbreaking movie. What are you talking about"

I don't even know what a Nitro is or why I'd want one but it looks like Discord is about to go from shit to useless.

Age verification?
My first Mac (rev a iMac) is now a museum exhibit. I don't mean another identical iMac. I mean my actual one which I donated.
Age verification? Growing up I used a gramophone to play my mum's 78rpm jazz records. And how to indicate I was about to make a turn by sticking my arm out the driver's side window on vehicles that didn't have indicators. (It was on the driving test back then.)
Age verification?

I used to have to stick my finger into one of several holes in a phone and rotate a circular piece of plastic, repeating the process a certain number of times to input the number I wanted to call.

What I want is a SoMe platform where only verified animal conservation people can post content and all everybody else can do us choose which of them to subscribe to and scroll and maybe like. No comments, no fascist propaganda, no doom, just animals.

"- Rummet er 270 grader koldt. Derfor er det dejligt nemt at nedkøle computerchips i rummet, siger John Leif Jørgensen."
John glemmer måske et øjeblik, at det er vanskeligt at skabe konvektion i rummet i og med der ikke er nogen atmosfære eller noget vand.

Elon Musk har sammenlagt to af sine hjertebørn og vil nu lave datacentre i rummet
Ifølge techmilliardæren vil datacentrene være en realitet om få år.

I need to pick up my parcel from the access point no later than Monday o'clock, UPS now informs me. It's incredible that this company is in business.

I read an article that referred to "the former English Prince Andrew" and I thought hold on - surely he's still English? What do you even demote somebody to from there?

It’s strange to write this, but of all things, Frank Miller’s Sin City seems weirdly topical. The details are different (cannibalism rather than pedophilia) and the scale much smaller (the most powerful man in one city and not most of the richest and most powerful men in the hemisphere).

This is a hell of a thing to use GenAI for in a time where numerous computer programs exist with which you can fairly easily create beautiful slop-free RPG maps.
(Dungeondraft, Dungeon Alchemist, Flowscape to name a few)
FB TTRPG groups are now utterly swarmed by AI-slop "cartographers" FFS.

Behold, the infamous 0-8-20-35-4th scale.

I got to find some of these guys, buy some cheap plastic wristwatches and sell them to them with a 9000% markup as ‘AI Bracelets’.
I’m starting to think the people who are excited about “AI agents” have literally never used a computer in their lives

I once tried to find a short excerpt from a Tarzan book without any overt racism in and it was pretty difficult.
I wonder if the very slow drip of those files is because it’s equally hard to find a batch with no direct mention of Trump.

I've never understood how nobody has ever written a novel about this before, but there was a brief time when the *Irish republican movement* possessed the first fully functional submarine.

Yes, you heard that right.

'Electrolytes' doesn't sound like a real w6. It sounds like something a medicine sci-fi writer made up. Like 'midichlorians'. I refuse to believe they're real.

Vi ser, hvad der foregår i USA, og alle mennesker og bliver forargede.
Men burde vi egentlig ikke overveje at lukke vores egne koncentrationslejre?

If Hitler came back to life somehow, the media would stop short of calling him a Nazi.

A: The statement is categorically false. Cancer diagnoses, specifically, always get fast-tracked. B: You'll also not have to worry about medical bankruptcy.
Waltz: "Denmark has ignored Greenland from a defense standpoint and they have ignored the Greenlandic native iniut people ... if you get a cancer diagnosis in Greenland right now, it's darn near a death sentence. Denmark has not invested in the way it should've over the years."

And it’s searchable - the image itself isn’t.
alt text is important for accessibility and my plea for people who don't personally need it - aside from it being the right thing to do - is, well, you'd actually benefit from it more than you think

how many times have you seen someone quote something with a character you don't recognize? alt text!
Folks I know it takes a little extra time and there's a lot going on, but please try to use alt text. It's hard if you're otg but otherwise just do it.

It's not just about your one post, it's about creating and sustaining a culture of accessibility.

Don't use brioche buns for burgers, you monsters. That's practically a cake! That's like using crêpes for burritos.

If you ask ChatGPT anything you have to subsequently search out the information in a different way to check whether the information is correct which is the same thing you'd do without ChatGPT.
That's not why I don't use it but I feel it would be a good reason to stop if I did.

I didn't enjoy the cold war paranoia but I still think it seems a little complacent to swear somebody in as president when you're not absolutely dead cert that he isn't a Russian asset. Twice.
Especially after an investigation found that, although not definitely, he very likely is.

I need to take these mushrooms so I don’t accidentally step on the tiny invisible people.
With most psychedelic drugs, you never know what you're going to get. But this mysterious mushroom from China - without fail - causes users to hallucinate tiny people: crawling up walls, popping out from under furniture and marching under doors. www.bbc.com/future/artic...
'They saw them on their dishes when eating': The mushroom making people hallucinate dozens of tiny humans
Only recently described by science, the mysterious mushrooms are found in different parts of the world, but they give people the same exact visions.
