I’m always astonished at these folk who claim to have lost friends because they’re transphobic - or because they were anti Scottish independence. My friendships seem to be deeper rooted. I have unionist friends. But I’ve never had friends who were bigots - so none to lose.

Now over one year in, Ireland's Deposit Return Scheme has exceeded expectations. Over 980 million drinks containers have been recycled through the scheme.

I did not have high expectations of Keir Starmer, he was always obviously Blair 2.0, but I did think that as a disabled person at the very least I would no longer live in terror of disability benefit cuts as I did under the Tories. How wrong was that fond hope.
