I’m so proud of the bravery of my colleague @everobinson.bsky.social and the others who have spoken out about harassment at the bar - I really hope we will finally take steps to make this kind of behaviour end for good

It is a sad sign of the current situation in the USA that standing up for the rule of law is considered ‘going scorched earth’ - lawyers should not have to choose between remaining employed and respecting the rule of law :/

Turns out the government’s strategy of ignoring expert advice and continuing the woeful underfunding of criminal justice is working just as well for them as it did the previous lot.
NEW Latest figures show backlogs increasing in both Magistrates & Crown Courts in England/Wales.

Figures for Dec 2024:

Magistrates: 309,838 - up 14% in 12 months & around 80,000 more than before Covid.

Crown: 74,651 - 11% up in 12 months. The backlog has doubled in 5 years...
