Having reverse culture shock and/or general frustration of biking in Seattle again after being in Copenhagen for a week.

Just finished a 3.5 hour bike tour around Copenhagen and I have thoughts.

Still very good bicycle infrastructure especially compared to North American standards however the Dutch really take so much more space away from cars!

Since December 2023, 80% of Amsterdam’s streets have a maximum speed limit of 30 km/h. Early results:

11% fewer crashes on the new 30 km/h roads and 24% fewer involving trams and buses

1.5 decibels less traffic noise

63% of drivers fully or almost fully comply with the new limit

Tree advocates don’t care about orcas or emissions. They are trying to stop housing. The sooner everyone realizes how NIMBYs launder their public comments the sooner we can move on to building productive housing reform.

If the Burke Gilman Trail were a highway, the Washington State Legislature would have already dedicated billions of $$$ to widen it.

Over 100,000 people are marching through The Hague against Israel's war on Gaza.

Wearing red clothing and forming a line, they are demanding the government draw a red line in its stance against Israel.

It's the largest protest in the Netherlands in 20 years.

Huge thanks to the 100+ people who joined our first-ever Volunteer Organizing Symposium!

Neighbors from across Seattle came together to learn, connect, and grow the movement for streets that are safe and welcoming for everyone to walk, bike, roll, and live.
