The first page of Elliotte’s comic about modern art. There are 3 panels on this page, one large panel with 2 smaller sub panels beneath it.
The largest panel opens with Elliotte’s character gesturing toward an art piece in the background with the speech bubble:
“Have you ever wondered why modern art is, you know… like that?”
The first sub panel depicts Elliotte’s character speaking and pointing up to two speech bubbles that say:
“Different modern and postmodern art movements have a variety of influences. People can devote years studying and deliniating those movements (and they have!)”
The word “deliniating” is spelled incorrectly in the bubble and should be spelled as Delineating.
The second sub panel depicts Elliotte’s character speaking and holding a camera in her hands. Her two speech bubbles in this panel say:
“I want to preemptively apologize to other art nerd, as I’m going to wildly oversimplify things. A big reason modern art looks like it does is because we now have cameras.”

The second page of Elliotte’s comic about modern art. Similarly to the first page this one also contains 3 panels. However the formatting is switched around. Now the 2 small panels are on top with the larger panel on the bottom.
The first small panel depicts a close up of an apple on a table with 2 text boxes denoting narration rather than speaking. The text boxes read as follows:
“Photos raised a question for artists and art reviewer alike: Why paint a thing instead of photograph it?”
The second small panel depicts a close up of Elliotte’s character drawn as a photo realistic bunny that is looking at the viewer. Two speech bubbles form from the bunny which say:
“This resulted in a move away from representational media. that is to say, art that looks like the subject”
The final large panel on this page depicts Elliotte’s character drawing a slightly abstract apple into a sheet of canvas. With the apple in the table from the first panel appearing in the background as it is illuminated by a desk lamp. She speaks while she draws, represented by two speech bubbles which state:
“This isn’t to say no one was doing realism, or wanted to be doing it. Many people did and do. It meant that realism became a choice, and was evaluated on that basis.”

The third page of Elliotte’s comic about modern art. This page follows the same structure as the previous page; Two small panels on top, one large panel on the bottom.
The first small panel on this page depicts Elliotte speaking from inside a painting, they appear to be reenacting the holding of the skull of Yorick. The two speech bubbles from Elliotte’s painting read:
“In art criticism and analysis, often we look at the choices artists make and how it impacts what the piece says to the audience. Colour choices, composition, all that jazz.”
The spelling of the word color as “colour” is intentionally done and not a typo instance.
The second small panel depicts Elliotte’s character shrugging and speaking with 3 speech bubbles which read:
“To analyze realism as a stylistic choice, you have to ask a question: Does this add anything? Is this the best way to communicate the message of this piece?”
The final panel of this page features a text box for narration as Elliotte’s character uses her hand to smudge and drag the red, drippy, paint of an abstract apple across a wall. The text box reads:
“Sometimes large, abstract, ideas are better represented with abstraction.”

The fourth page of Elliotte’s comic about modern art. The structure of this page is once again inverted, featuring one large panel on top and two small panels at the bottom.
The large panel depicts Elliotte as they experience a resonating effect. A more accurate description would be that they are undergoing a doppler effect as they appear be shifting wavelengths and changing depending on how and when they are observed. To reflect this changing effect their two speech bubbles read:
“The long and short is this: changing technology and culture changed how we make and how we analyze fine art. It became less about what was being shown, but instead how and why is was being shown, and how those questions impact each other.”
The first smaller panel depicts Elliotte with their body turned to the left with their hand on their cheek. The two Speech bubbles they speak state:
“Side note; I feel like the conservative backlash to this way of analyzing art plays into talking points around AI, But that might be a bit out of this comic’s scope”
The next panel depicts Elliotte with their eyes close and a smile as they flash two finger guns at the viewer with the speech bubble:
“But what is within the scope of this comic is performance art!”
