a lot of political “scandal” coverage is just the media making a decision about whether public opinion needs a corrective

Guillermo del Toro on wealth: "a wealthy man is a man who has enough, not a man that needs more. If you have enough to invite someone for a beer? You're rich. If you have a yacht, planes, islands, and you still need more? You're not rich."

If I have any credibility with you from 20 years of reporting on rightwing & fascist movements, please listen when I beg you not to celebrate Charlie Kirk getting shot. Leave aside morality: this isn’t a match in dry grass, it’s a torch. We do not want what this could ignite & we would not win.

100 percent this. There is never a context in which a campus shooting is anything other than horrifying.

I hate when politicians and pundits and academics with zero experience growing up working class or living a working class life talk authoritatively about the working class; leave us alone, this shit is hard enough without being tokenized or weaponized or studied like exotic zoo animals

my beef with so many centrist democrats is honestly less their ideology than their total lack of political instincts. the actual public is going wild with epstein speculation and this anonymous idiot is skeptical that it is playing outside of washington www.axios.com/2025/07/24/j...
"This whole thing is just such bulls**t": Not every Democrat wants to talk about Epstein
"I don't think this issue is big outside the Beltway," one prominent centrist House Democrat told Axios.

there are many things going on here but i will also add that if you read the letter this guy is not actually rich, he just says he's going to be rich by the time he's 40. he says he works from home "doing something similar to trading markets" which to be sounds like either crypto or unemployed
NEW COLUMN: He’s tall, he’s jacked and he’s on track to be a millionaire before 40. So why are all these women dating men who aren’t nearly as desirable as him?

The best part of the Mamdani win is that a bunch of octogenarian Democratic officials might finally be realizing that it's long past time they pass the torch.

what’s funny is that if pro-cuomo centrist democrats were less myopic they might see that mamdani was running the kind of campaign that could help rebuild the party brand — accessible with an outsider persona and a focus on “kitchen table” issues.

the thing with Mamdani is that he’s obviously an incredible political talent - the campaign he’s run has been extremely impressive even if you don’t like his policies

the party should be delighted, and that they’re instead pulling out all the stops to beat him speaks volumes

if nothing else I think this is an eye-opening experience for many New Yorkers about who in the media is honest and who are dishonest liars intent on manipulating public opinion to get their preferred outcome.
I don't think I've ever felt more like burning it all down than I have while witnessing the elite project to turn Zohran Mamdani and Brad Lander into scary, incompetent monsters while turning an actual incompetent monster, Andrew Cuomo, into a merely complicated fellow who just made an oopsie.

I won’t ever buy your book about Sleepy Joe Biden, but I’d absolutely devour a book about the internal collapse of the NYT or CNN.

This is what a good politician should have: beliefs and principles.
AOC during Zohran for Mayor rally: "There are people out there who say, 'If you go out and make this endorsement, your political career will be over.' And to that I say: I don't care. We will never get to a better place if everyone is just worried about themselves. If it's over, so be it."

all of the right-wing billionaires are funding the demolition of the post-war state, while the liberal billionaires can’t be bothered to read the Wikipedia for the Federal Reserve
I don’t understand why no one in congress has proposed amending The Federal Reserve act to include the following addition among the mandates

“Reducing the federal debt-to-GDP ratio to sustainable levels.”

Keep inflation and employment the same , just add to the equation
