Yep I'm retiring from beading because it's too much sacrificing time and cost of materials when I have to maintain caretaking for family on top of my writing and other side hustles to have basic survival income. If I had ubi it would be another story....

Just because artists are rare doesn't make them an elite. Elites are small groups that wield power over others. AI shills prey on the idea that most people are hungry for meaning in their lives and want to express themselves. What's standing in the way is not an Artistic elite. It's your own fear.

Beadwork doesn't sell like it used to and my hands don't work like they used to so I've been thinking it's looking like time to retire from beading and jewelry work. (Unless commissioned for family)

but we do have arts grants.. www.arts.gov/grants (among others) I know 2 different people that have gotten these for vastly different works and worked in productions they helped fund. It may not be to the level of germans, but its not nothing.
