I know it’s been said again and again, but what does it say about ChatControl that its backers keep explicitly *exempting* law enforcement and national security accounts from content scanning?

I want to reiterate that countless conservative judges issued universal injunctions against the Biden administration, and the Supreme Court never halted the practice. Now, barely five months into Trump's second term, the court puts an end to these injunctions. A brazen double standard.

ICE has declared they’re not subject to an existing federal law requiring they allow members of Congress to perform unannounced oversight.

It’s not an ambiguous issue—they simply think they’re above the law.

Why does the network backbone of Telegram matter?

Because as @pwnallthethings.bsky.social was pointing out in 2022 (www.pwnallthethings.com/i/86455222/t...), Telegram's in-house TLS replacement provides a cleartext permanent device ID!

The network can follow users across WiFis, data plans, etc.

She concludes by saying schools need to make sure they're teaching students "what it means to promote freedom and liberty" and apparently their way of doing that is banning students and silencing protected speech.
after announcing that foreign students are being banned from Havard, Noem warns "this should be a warning to every other university to get your act together."

Watching Donald Trump’s assault on American universities and their students (which now includes the end of federal loans for grad students) shows that faculty & students who treated Biden/Harris and Trump as “equally bad” did not have the imagination to see what Trump would do.

tired: SignalGate

@wired.com: The Signal clone, TeleMessage—which Mike Waltz appeared to use in a Reuters photo—has been hacked. And Customs and Border Protection also confirmed it used TeleMessage.

Welp.
Customs and Border Protection Confirms Its Use of Hacked Signal Clone TeleMessage
After a hacker reportedly stole data from TeleMessage Signal that included references to CBP, the agency has now confirmed that it used the app but has now “disabled” it as a “precautionary measure.”

Wow. Microsoft drops a law firm because it settled with Trump.

From another firm: "The partner, who was not authorized to discuss client matters publicly, said prospective clients had indicated that they had lost confidence in settling firms for not standing up to an attack on the rule of law."

The most daming claim in this statement IMO:

Within 15 minutes of DOGE accounts being created…
Attackers in Russia tried logging in using those new creds.
Correct usernames and passwords.

2 options here. The DOGE device was hacked. And I don't think I need to explain the 2nd.

If you feel like being inspired by a big law firm, here's the opening to Sussman Godfrey's lawsuit against Trump and his executive order targeting the firm. It still is amazing other firms caved quickly to Trump's mob-like and unconstitutional shakedown.

I have an excerpt from an entry I am writing for my "diary" that I would like to post into the abyss. It's banal retrospection, and nothing more and nothing less.

I can't believe it's 2025 and we're still embracing "turn all your employees into infallible cybersecurity experts who can reliably identify 'suspicious links'" as a cybersecurity control. If a single employee clicking a link can bring down your entire org, you never had cybersecurity to begin with.

Despite all the money Murena makes selling overpriced insecure devices and grifting EU government funds, they aren't even able to keep their non-end-to-end encrypted services up. Those services were recently down from early October until mid-February. That's not remotely serious.

Murena sells highly insecure devices without basic privacy/security patches or the standard privacy/security model intact. Direct opposite of GrapheneOS in regards to privacy and security. It also lacks the stability and app compatibility of GrapheneOS...
