There’s a conveyer belt hot pot place near me that is 🔥 🔥 🔥 you have your pot of boiling broth at your table and all the fixin’s amble by you and you try to decide how many quail eggs is too many and whether you trust the frozen fish fillet
I think there should be more conveyor belt restaurants. conveyor belt soup. conveyor belt fajitas. conveyor belt pizza (very big conveyor belt)

A scoop of Trader Joe’s pumpkin ice cream in your coffee will not fix what is wrong with the world but is well-worth doing anyway.

I made my first baked potato in about six or seven years tonight. I chanted “potato potato potato” while I cut it open and added butter, salt, and pepper. Reader, it was the best fucking baked potato. Twelve of ten stars. No notes.

I stay sitting for “Proud to be an American” and “Grand Old Flag” and “My Country ‘Tis of Thee,” too. Miss me with the blind nationalism of standing for every cringey patriotic song.
God Bless America is just a song by Irving Berlin. It’s not the national anthem. America is so far down the moron hole it will never get out

Immigrants make the US great. That’s not just spouting platitudes; the US would be a fucking weak broth without the richness that immigrants suffuse into the melting pot. We are made better every time we welcome a different perspective of the world. The rhetoric that claims otherwise is abhorrent.
As the people who insist otherwise try to burn the country, it's important to affirm that immigrants, from everywhere, are awesome, and America is better the more immigrants we have. You have to be just empty and vapid and unimaginably small to reject that.

Your local elections, while not as Big Newsworthy, are your chance to make changes on political levels you (1) can actually change and influence with your singular vote and (2) have arguably more concrete effect on your daily life. Don’t pass on the opportunity.
This Election Day may seem unimportant because there are no “big” offices on the ballot but many states hold their nonpartisan municipal elections in off years. Races for city council, school boards, county judgeships are VITALLY important to the day to day functions of your community! Participate!

Not having a hangover becomes better than being tipsy, because hangovers get ROUGH.
Those who are 35+, what advice do you have for people just entering their 30s?

I’ve not seen a single Studio Ghibli film.
Inspired by a post I just saw in which someone admitted they hadn’t seen a single episode of Friends nor the film Love Actually… what cultural hole do you have that’s a bit weird for your generation?

I’ll go first: I haven’t seen Dirty Dancing.

I don’t get to finish my own projects very often, so even though this baby Maypole was a quick make, it felt very gratifying. #quiltsky

I don’t want loyalty points for every damn store. I bought a swimsuit once, I don’t need a fraction of a dollar worth of points. Stop emailing me about them.
i don't want to hear your most boomer complaint. what's your most millennial complaint?

It doesn’t count as day drinking when it’s Kirkland Signature champagne while you’re getting a much-deserved and long-overdue pedicure.

Hi friends!

Things are really tight. I had to graduate from a manual chair with power assist to a fully powered chair due to my illness, which means my beloved Colours chair needs to find a new home. It’s powered by the Yamaha NaviOne system, which is fabulous.

Please share.

Here are some things that Charlie Kirk said in his life.

The man is dead, and so it only seems fair to share his legacy by cataloguing the values he spread while alive.

I’m experiencing maybe 1% of what worldcon has to offer and I’m already exhausted
August 14, 2025 at 2:25 AM
So I am going to WorldCon but I’m so intimidated that my avoidant ass has resisted making any sort of plans. I’m local, so I can light rail in. What should I make sure not to miss?

Hi there! It’s late and I’m bored so I’d like to contribute to normalizing the notion that women *can also* contribute to the “not pulling their weight” component of failed relationships.
