Yeah, I agree with this. Writers need to get paid; people subscribing to publications and websites is how that happens. And writers need to get work, so we share what we do in an attempt to try interest people. No apologies for that.
FYI this is an immediate block. You’re under no obligation to pay for my or anyone else’s work, but you won’t come onto my feed to complain about us earning a living.

In other words, Trump admits he was trying to use his pardon power to buy Republicans a House seat.

If I’m not mistaken, 2028 will likely be the first time since 1988 that an incumbent VP running for President will face multiple primary challengers.

"All is lost" narratives are popular because people generally do not want to take action. Taking action is tiring so if all is lost, you are off the hook. Nothing is more seductive than not having to do anything.

Wild seeing multiple “Gavin Newsom is our 2028 nominee” headlines lately. Pete Buttigieg was completely unknown in December 2017 to the people who wound up voting him to victory in the Iowa caucus.

It’s early. Relax! There will be debates, town halls, campaigning, interviews, opposition research.

What's changed is that the Court has become more transparent in its corruption. There's not even an argument here beyond the implicit one which is: how do you expect us to hold the House without those seats?
#BREAKING: Over dissents from the three democratic appointees, #SCOTUS puts Texas's new House maps back into effect for (and, presumably, through) the 2026 midterms.

The three Democratic appointees, in an opinion by Justice Kagan, dissent.

I'll post the ruling shortly.

Democrats can retaliate against these GOP gerrymanders with new maps in Illinois, Maryland, Oregon, & Virginia.

They could flip 7 GOP seats to make up for this & new GOP maps in Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, & possibly soon Indiana.

Imposing costs is the only way to deter the GOP from doing this

Kagan's dissent is all scorchers, but this is really frying me. As long as state legislatures wait until the last possible minute, according to the SCOTUS majority, they can *always* get away with rigging the lines—no matter how flagrantly—because it'll be the "eve of an election."

Texas clearly did a racial gerrymander, which is illegal.

A district court found that Texas did a racial gerrymander, rejecting the new map because it is illegal.

But the Supreme Court reversed it.

Because? Must assume the gerrymanderers were acting in good faith (despite the evidence otherwise).

Nor could that boat, before it was bombed, reach the United States. That’s important because it refutes the laughable claim of “imminence” necessary to wrap the strikes under the auspices of a lawful armed conflict.
I cannot imagine the level of moral bankruptcy to describe the actions of people whose boat has just been hit by a missile from nowhere (this was the FIRST such strike) and who were most likely making a desperate attempt not to drown in the ocean as trying to "stay in the fight."
Q: What did you see in the second strike?

Cotton: "I saw two survivors trying to flip a boat -- loaded with drugs, bound for the United States -- back over, so they could stay in the fight."

One reason: In mainstream political journalism, your bosses reward you for coming off as dry, unsurprisable, immune to alarm. "Everybody needs to calm down" is a signal to them that you are not volatile, and thus not prone to bad judgment. This is exactly what should not be rewarded right now. >

Batya might be just fine with a dudetrustme basis for a terrorist designation, but Americans with a functioning moral compass actually expect a plausible public rationale for who is to be treated as a terrorist in our name.
