I think immigrants Make America Great.
I think most immigrants are not criminals.
I KNOW the president is a criminal.

Here’s a prayer for Thanksgiving Day… or any day. From our book Common Prayer. You can find it and others here:

4. I am #grateful God continues to be faithful even when I am not, and is patient with my questions and doubts and yelling at Him a lot. Thankful for His grace. Thankful for glimmers in the midst of some extremely dark days.

3. I am grateful for the wonderful assisted living facility that fit my 90+ parents' unexpected and urgent need for a new home, and that we still have them both with us for another Thanksgiving. I can't imagine what it would have been like without Mom.

2. I am #grateful for writing friends who have faithfully encouraged my writing through a nightmare year, but more importantly have cared for me beyond the writing and have held space for my hard days.

1. I am #grateful for me eating disorder team and my dietician recognizing my malnutrition before it was too late. Long year! Also for my amazing retina doc. And for a family that has put up with a lot having a sick me to care for.

Ari and Mira were made for each other from before the beginning of time, so there is no one else they could even fathom loving. Theirs is a love for the ages, they are each other's safe space, the repositories of each other's hearts, souls, lives in a dark world. A most beautiful love.
Today's random #Lovember #WritingPrompt for the #WriteSky #WritingCommunity:

Would your character(s) still fall for their first love(s)?
If it doesn't make sense to answer for romantic love, you can talk about some other sort of "first love".

I missed this by two days, but agree the focus should be every day.
.
Indigenous Peoples Day . . .

... so much more would be needed than just one day.

One more time: As it’s not “weaponization of justice” for law enforcement to prosecute someone who committed crimes trying to rob a bank, it’s also not weaponization of justice for law enforcement to prosecute someone who committed crimes trying to overthrow an American election.

As someone who has macular degeneration in both eyes, I encourage everyone, especially older folks like me, to get tested. It can't be cured, but it can be slowed drastically. Many never dev severe case if caught early.
Today is World Sight Day - a reminder of the importance of accessible and affordable eyecare for everyone, everywhere.

Join the global call to action: #LoveYourEyes - book a sight test, encourage others to do the same. Your vision matters.

I feel like this photo of masked, armed men pepper spraying a pastor protecting his community is going to be a defining picture of this moment in America for a long, long time.

In any other country, if federal agents fired upon journalists when unprovoked — what would we call it?

If federal agents marched down streets demanding papers — what would we say?

Authoritarianism — let’s not pretend it’s something else when it happens in our American cities.

Monthly reminder: Many people have a book in them, but it takes a special kind of freak to leave the Land of Laziness, cross the Plains of Procrastination and Insecurity Mountain, find the Blade of No One Made You Do This, and use it to cut your chest open and yank that book out.

@elinashaw.bsky.social says,
"Tho' much is taken, much abides; and tho'
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield."

This is just stinking awesome
The other day I drew a subway-style map for The Hobbit, and it was very well received. Some of you asked if I could do one for LoTR, so I have!

Forgive the eel watermark; I'm working on making these something you can buy, if you like.
