"Be at ease, Rianel. Your marriage to Pel has tainted your thinking. If you look closely enough—if you look at all—you will see Mira and I share our responsibilities to our family equally. Betimes I must be away, as was ever required of me in my duties as Protector, yet she is not unduly burdened. Many times she has been required to leave our family group to attend the spiritual needs amongst us, and yet I have not felt disproportionately ladened when I must needs feed the children or watch them during the day. You may have even noticed me amongst the berry bushes when I am able."
