The USAF removed Tuskegee Airmen & Women Airforce Service Pilots of WWII from basic training curriculum. For 30 years I promised these women I would not let them ever be forgotten again. Today was my birthday, so as is the tradition at Tempered Mettle Historical Fencing I did 58 passes (or minutes, whichever comes second) of fencing against my club mates.

Y’all gotta stop making these takes. The amount of people that lost lifelong jobs, the amount of creatives who lost homes with day jobs who work as personal assistants, MUA’s, AV, producers - everyone needs this. LA’s economy needs the Oscars now.

I hear what you guys are saying about the Oscars, and how they're a celebration of life, and the show must go on, blah-blah-blah, so-on-and-so-forth. It all makes a degree of sense, but to me it still feels like Nero fiddling while Rome burns. Or in this case, wearing fancy clothes while LA burns.

To me, “cancel the Oscars” is an understandable but short-sighted take that ignores a) how important the entertainment industry is to LA, b) how much that industry has suffered in recent years, and c) the potential fundraising opportunity of a televised awards show.

I don't really use TikTok that much, but I find it fascinating that our government is on the verge of banning an app for national security reasons that are still unclear in the same week that Meta, the largest social media company, says it's now fine to hate LGBTQ people and call us mentally ill.
