62 years later, and counting.. yet it is as true now as it was then.
Alt text on image has full version of that portion of the letter. Although I highly recommend reading the entire letter.

She talks about how she was just trying to warn her neighbours that ICE was in the area.

She says she’s a survivor.

This is courage.

It’s also a reminder that DHS will lie to protect its thugs.

Kash Patel still hasn’t removed a tweet that blames Martinez for getting shot.

Marimar Martinez is a US citizen who was shot by ICE five times in Chicago.

She was then arrested, labelled a “domestic terrorist” and slandered on social media.

All charges against her have been dropped.

In this interview she shows on of the seven holes the ICE agent put in her body.

If you are visiting or live in DC, you can find this quote (& many others) carved into the walls of the FDR Memorial, located on the west side of the Tidal Basin. There are four outdoor rooms (one for each term in office), plus loads of sculpture and water features. It is next to the MLK Memorial.

Here's where empathy is so crucial. Recently, I saw Musk say he felt empathy was a problem. Who says something like that?! An unfeeling, greedy person, with no ability to have empathy for the plight of others who are suffering. People like him are the problem.

There have been many, many wild 24 hour news cycles in the Trump era but this one that began with Trump threatening to execute members of Congress and ended with him having a love fest with Mandami and MTG resigning is certainly up there. Solid Top 20 effort by the writers.
