Everything they do should be about what best sets up whichever fresh-faced MP becomes the leader in January 2029 to go 'I'm new! Inflation is down, interest rates are down, bin collections are weekly, GP appointments are up and the police catch criminals again!'

Making Graham Potter do a press conference on Friday to preview a game on Monday he was not going to take charge off because, in between, he was going to get the sack, is staggeringly shithouse behaviour by West Ham’s board.

The media - yes, we will report on fun stunts

The media, also - the Lib Dems need to show they've got serious policies

The best three defences in the Premier League so far this season according to 'xG'....... Liverpool have scored against and beaten all three - scoring 8 goals in the process.
Some start considering we haven't really played well in any of the games = promising

I think yesterday's Bruno Fernandes performance was the absolute quintessential Bruno game that he will struggle to top all year. In the *same game* he somehow managed to prove right both those who hate him, and those who love him as an FPL asset.

It’s a comparatively small thing, but the total lie about Roshanara Ali evicting her tenants so she could raise the rent on her property is now an accepted fact. If you do not fight back immediately, aggressively and loudly against the liars, this is what happens. Labour has four more years of it.

This is a huge achievement for the Labour government in its first year. Number of children accessing funded early education & childcare has increased by 33% in a year, reaching 1.7 million, an increase likely related to government initiatives aimed at expanding access to early education & childcare

Tedious to point this out, but:

- When a tongue-tied Biden said "President of Mexico" instead of "Prez of Egypt," it was a several day story.

-Hours after Trump says whoever appointed J Powell made a big mistake (it was him), the episode appears not to merit a story on any national-media sites.

“We accept genuine asylum seekers because it is right that we offer a haven to those in most dire need."
Yes, it is right; and I am glad to hear a British Prime Minister say so.
“I know some people will still ask, why should we take anyone in?

“We accept genuine asylum seekers because it is right that we offer a haven to those in most dire need.

“We simply cannot solve a challenge like stopping the boats by acting alone and telling our allies that we won’t play ball."

This chart i think is fascinating for where the Govt goes next. Looking just at Labour defectors - e.g. those who voted Labour in 2024 and now say they'd vote elsewhere. The plurality (40%) think they've been more right-wing than expected, 30% the same and 19% more left wing
Those who backed the party in 2024 but no longer do are more likely to say Labour has been more right wing than they expected, whereas Reform voters are more likely to say they have been more left wing than expected.

“When you want to say something rightwing but actually looking at who is eligible to claim benefits is too much like hard work” - this policy is the most Badenoch era policy we’ve yet seen.
This really is not getting the attention it should. The Tories' latest proposal is to exclude *any household that includes any foreign national from any benefit*.

And when asked about it, they keep citing small boat crossings - a minute fraction of migration - to justify it. ~AA

What are the two biggest criticisms of politicians as a class you hear from the public?

1. You can’t trust them
2. They can’t/won’t do anything to help people like me

Labour (unintentionally) provided evidence that both of those arguments were correct within less than a month of taking power.

To offer my genuinely controversial opinion: Labour has pursued what could legitimately be described as an anti-business agenda that has stymied growth, but many of the individual elements are probably a good idea and fine. The net result has felt like stagnation.
This from Josh Glancy interview with Starmer is key, I said on Kunessberg this AM, Labour have done v.popular things - min wage, renters, gb energy, sewage but drowned out by winter fuel, NI, PIP and people struggle to understand guiding mission of the govt
