If you pay attention to any large industry long enough and follow it to its logical conclusion you eventually end up sounding like a communist even if you started off testing CPU case fans. youtu.be/cUrJVdF2me0?...

I remember Dawning Realization Month for the NFT people too. Think this is going to take much longer because of how wrapped up the whole economy is in this, but it really feels like it's happening.
Anecdotally on twitter seeing a big shift the last few days from every AI slop account saying every other creative field is “over” and they’re in control now to now posting about how nobody likes them and it’s not fair and they’ll persevere and real artists respect and uplift eachother

Finally checked out the 50th anniversary remaster of Jesus Christ Superstar, & it's mostly a triumph (any issues are largely bc I'm so used to the muddier earlier versions, but at times I could have sworn the arrangements were slightly different).

"World's first potential trillionaire has killed 600,000 people, including 400,000 children" is the only headline that anyone should ever read about Elon Musk
One analytical model shows that, as of November 5th, the dismantling of U.S.A.I.D. has already caused the deaths of 600,000 people, two-thirds of them children. https://newyorkermag.visitlink.me/jUzNSc

I was inspired by @duckfeedtv.bsky.social’s old regional arcade episodes to check out Can Can Wonderland in St. Paul, & if the dynamic duo ever find themselves there I can’t recommend it enough! Truly unique & Pee-Wee’s Playhouse-coded DIY, artist-forward, & non-irony poisoned entertainment abounds!

Why does everyone keep calling it “The Epstein Ballroom?” Please stop repeating “The Epstein Ballroom” because it is not called “The Epstein Ballroom!” Don’t tell the news that it’s called “The Epstein Ballroom” and please don’t repost this!!!!!

A 2000s rock revival thought: “Hate To Say I Told You So” & “Maps” both end almost identically notation-wise, but played in completely opposite manners.

I mean, the obvious first place with a bullet should be Brian Eno, but maybe I give him credit for being sort of known & more popular/respected than Adrian, & thus less qualified for the title? But Eno is a titan and genius of the art form, while Belew is merely strikingly multitalented.
In terms of the made up math comparing how discussed, popular, credited & respected someone is vs. their compositional, instrumental & creative talent plus contributions to the medium, sometimes I think Adrian Belew is the most underrated musical figure of the 20th century.

Relistening to the second half of The Wall after not revisiting in a long time. Once an odd and slight quality dip to defend or shrug off, this is a frighteningly, shockingly relevant and modern musical illustration of brainworms. No seriously (& literally).

King Crimson is an all-timer band that has so many impressive, entertaining, essential 9/10 records, but arguably never had a 10/10. I might give the top score to Discipline, but that's it. Everything else, while really engrossing & cool, has some notable flaw or bum track that slightly mars things.

the thing everyone is going to have to accept is that the post-trump period, whenever it comes, will not and cannot be a project of national unity, it must be a project of partisan project of renewal, in the same way that reconstruction and the new deal were partisan projects of renewal.

As end-of-empire scenarios go it is so much more dignified to get your capital city sacked by the Visigoths than to have a bunch of illiterate rich people in their 70s doing it through a series of incomprehensible tantrums because their brains were defeated by their phones.
