Aes never misses. I know it’s such a White Dude Hipster Take on hip-hop, but dammit it’s true. One of the absolute greatest, on a musical AND lyrical basis.

Caveat: I was a teen in the 00s, but was already a jaded hipster listening to outdated stuff & not much contemporary, so I think my nostalgia bias is minimal. Anyway, 01 is a great year for its decade, IMO. All the GenXers apathetic about this tourney can just roll with my bracket if they want! ;)

Re: 80s/00s debate, I see them as equally good but different. 80s had higher peaks(?), more revolutionary/influential material, more pop diversity, but big divide btw. cool interesting stuff & sellout fluff crap. 00s were about consolidation: polished/multifaceted/modern pop synthesis of old ideas.
