I hope 2025 was kind to you,
and I wish you all the best for 2026.

On the 7th day of Christmas…

Care, persistence and collective responsibility matter more than numbers.

So our seven Swans are seven rescue stories – and the incredible work of The Waterfowl Sanctuary.
Seven swans a-swimming: rescue, care and consequence in Cambridgeshire
Across East Anglia, seven swan rescues reveal both how fragile winter survival is, and how collective care keeps hope afloat

It's cold out and the frost is just beginning to melt in the suns rays.

Those same rays catching the flowers on Abutilon x milleri hort. 'Variegatum' in our exotic courtyard garden.

1 in 3 believe 'Britishness' is something you are born with - poll
More than half (53 per cent) also think being born in Britain is an important part of being British - while a quarter of people surveyed said it was 'not important at all'.

🌱Dead oak seen during yesterday’s ramble. It has clearly had the attention of a saw at some point during life. Certainly predates the plantation of beech trees behind.
A close up of ivy trunks on the same tree looking a little sinister.

A sentiment that is too anthropocentric for me but I loved Terry his books were amazing and it saddens me that there will never be another. ❤️

Today's Solar activity.

My white light capture & NASA's SDO

spaceweather.com reports 2026 could begin with a CME storm, predicting a glancing blow on NYD. If impact actually occurs, it could spark auroras in northern regions.

I’ve read this article by Diana St Ruth many times over the years it has always struck a chord with me. At its heart it is very grounding and goes beyond the notion that if we simply have compassion for others and treat the planet well everything will turn out ok.
Buddhism, by its very nature, leads practitioners towards compassion for all beings.

Words can’t describe the cruelty involved in the fishing industry.
Beautiful mother ray hooked tortured 💔👺Spontaneous giving birth while still hooked and in severe stress. She tries to save her offspring not knowing she is on a boat. This should never happen. #Fishing = #Murder #StopAllFishing #LiveVegan ✌️

I could never support a party that has Zarah Sultana playing a prominent role, cannot decide if she is a complete narcissist or just has a lot of growing up to do. Certainly not leadership material

I don’t know if it’s because I am now of an age where I could be a member of the Thursday Murder Club, while trying to stay in denial, but I really could not get into the book or the film
Thursday Murder Club is the kind of movie that I liked just fine but would also watch five more of today.
