Today is 'SuperSun' day!Perihelion is the day when Earth is at its closest distance to the Sun. Is it a coincidence or a rare event that it's also when Earth is at its closest to the Moon? @chrislintott.bsky.social #astronomy #astrophotography

Wishing you all a happy and healthy 2006.

The last 3 hours of the year here in London have been clear so whilst my house guests got ready for the midnight 'bongs' of Big Ben, I decided they all deserve some love so I gave them the Heart Nebula, captured whilst we wined and dined!

Today's Solar activity.

My white light capture & NASA's SDO

spaceweather.com reports 2026 could begin with a CME storm, predicting a glancing blow on NYD. If impact actually occurs, it could spark auroras in northern regions.
