This is not a peace plan. It is a proposal that weakens Ukraine and divides America from Europe, preparing the way for a larger war in the future. In the meantime, it benefits unnamed Russian and American investors, at the expense of everyone else.

The Witkoff-Dmitriev plan is even more amateurish than I imagined. It favours Russia although does contain elements that Russia will not like. Premature leaking means that it is no more than work in progress. Here is an annotated version (This is free). open.substack.com/pub/samf/p/t...?
The Witkoff-Dmitriev peace plan annotated
We now know a bit more about the process which led to the new peace plan and we now have a copy of its contents, to which I will turn soon.

I went to take a spoon from the draining board stand. I pulled it out and realised it was not the kind of spoon I wanted. I felt irritated. I realised my reaction was the problem; not the spoon. I always focus on the spoon, and this is a mistake.

BREAKING: Keir Starmer has spoken to President Zelenskyy and backed him after Trump’s attacks.

“The PM expressed his support for Zelenskyy as Ukraine’s democratically elected leader and said that it was perfectly reasonable to suspend elections during war time as the UK did during World War II."

What happens if you put an AI in charge of national defense?

In war games, LLMs tend to escalate & do arms races. Base models are more aggressive & unpredictable. The authors speculate that it is because there is lots of training data on escalation, little on de-escalation. arxiv.org/pdf/2401.03408

Just went to a funeral here in Spain. I get that the culture dictates fast burial (as often established tradition in hot countries), and that consequently people have little time to prepare, but it still strikes me as sadly impersonal that none of the family speak. Just generic religious messages.

Hard to imagine a clearer example than Elon of someone who does both good and bad things.

Our seeming inability to maintain a nuanced view of anyone -they must be reduced to either goodnight or bad- is, in contrast, entirely bad.
