Y'know people describe having a nightmare of "Going to a class, realizing there's a test and you haven't studied for it?" My junior year of college, I ended up withdrawing due to depression for the semester because that happened to me. I was depressed, missed class for a month, felt a little better

I kind of think the people pushing back on "Avatar has no cultural impact" are getting over their skis. The cultural impact thing is at this point a cliche and not that interesting, but it is unusual for a genre movie to be as big as Avatar and not have a line or a moment that gets referenced.
This used to be all movies until George Lucas taught people to think in terms of Toys.

I'm a grad student at UNL, in actuarial science, so I'm taking a lot of stats class, and the dumbest thing is they've spent the last 5-8 years expanding the stats department. Hiring new professors, luring professors away from other new schools.

not totally relevant, but back when subway baked its on bread on-site, when I was in college, there was a good subway, and a bad subway on or near campus. I only went to the bad subway maybe 3 times in 4 years, and twice, the guy behind the counter said "Sorry, we forgot to make bread this morning."

I'll be honest, I don't entirely know the breadth and extent of what a US Secretary of Transportation does, but I am pretty certain it is not to be a middle school principal for the entire nation.

When my dad was a young lawyer the local D party tried to get meetings with basically every young lawyer in the county who wasn't a registered R to try to talk them into running for county commission. My dad didn't take the meeting because he knew the pay was shit.

I always thought it was a weirdly revealing flaw about Trump that he freaked out about like, Alec Baldwin's Trump impression. It is the easiest lay-up to make yourself look more likable. SNL is not super cutting satire. Just be like "Oh yeah, its cute."
