in the 70s trans folks argued that when talking about medical procedures and our bodies the right word is "sex" and not "gender" and that mixing up the terms would cause social problems down the line and just how right were they? just how hard should we have ignored cis people since forever?
the sad irony here is that transgender was a term originally created to *specifically include* those folks who didn’t medically transition—back when “transexual” was still in common use.
somehow it became so popular and successful a term that its original users have been pushed out. 😣
