TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from Okjökull to Ok (jökull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque:
"This is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it".

Years of dealing with racists has taught me that all racists are also misogynists, so when they say “protect our women and girls”, they are only speaking half the sentence out loud. The full sentence is “protect our women and girls because they are OUR prey”.

I am sickened by the relentless demonisation of refugees.

No refugee underfunded a school.

No refugee closed a hospital.

No refugee took away support from the sick and disabled.

We need solutions not scapegoats. Stop blaming refugees and tax the rich instead!

My suggestions to the UK govt for rejuvenating economy.

Must boost purchasing power of the bottom 50% of the population, cut taxes for the poor, eliminate tax perks of the rich.

The Minister did not respond. Will the Chancellor change policy?
