This is beyond horrific.

ICE is responsible for the well-being of people in immigration detention and it is failing that responsibility miserably. Mr. Ge’s loved ones and the American people need answers immediately. www.newsweek.com/ice-detainee...

This makes my blood boil hotter than the Planck temperature. After a lifetime of diligent work and saving and this is what you get. Stress, anxiety, discrimination, uncertainty.
I'm one of them. I'm 61 and have about $500,000 in retirement savings. Is it enough to retire on? I'm about to find out since I was laid off (thanks, DOGE) in April and the job market is abysmal. Ageism is real.

No idea if this is going to work. We live modestly, with a 14 year old car.

The nomination of Stuart Levenbach was a "technical" maneuver intended to extend White House budget director Russ Vought's oversight of the agency.

Please understand that if something like this doesn't pass soon, we will be facing yet another crisis. A huge wave of people is about to retire on 401(k) plans, which is an untested retirement vehicle for the volume of people retiring.
GOOD NEWS: @ramirez.house.gov will be working with @sanders.senate.gov to introduce the Pensions for All Act.

The bill requires corporations to provide traditional pension plans for their workers or pay into the federal retirement system to ensure all workers receive retirement benefits.

House demands Epstein financial records from J.P. Morgan, Deutsche Bank and US Virgin Islands
House demands Epstein financial records from J.P. Morgan, Deutsche Bank and US Virgin Islands
Republicans are pushing ahead with an investigation into the activities of Jeffrey Epstein — even as legislation forcing the release of all Department of Justice files on the late sex offender appears to be heading to President Donald Trump for a signature. The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform issued a series of subpoenas Tuesday for some of Epstein’s financial records. Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.), chairman of the committee, issued subpoenas to J.P. Morgan Chase and Deutsche Bank and requested additional documents from U.S. Virgin Islands Attorney General Gordon Rhea. According to the subpoenas, J.P. Morgan Chase began an internal investigation into accounts previously held by Epstein, flagging some 4,700 transactions as “suspicious” in the process. Epstein also held accounts at and banked with Deutsche Bank from 2013 until potentially late 2018, the subpoenas state. The letter to Rhea comes after documents released last week reveal that Del. Stacey Plaskett consulted with Epsteinduring a 2019 hearing with President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer Michael Cohen. Epstein previously owned the islands of Little St. James and Great St. James. The House on Tuesday will vote to censure Plaskett and remove her from the House Intelligence Committee. “The records sought by this subpoena will assist in the Committee’s oversight of the federal government’s enforcement of sex trafficking laws generally and specifically its handling of the investigation and prosecution of Mr. Jeffrey Epstein and Ms. Ghislaine Maxwell,” the subpoenas to the banks read. The subpoenas were announced just after the House and Senate voted overwhelmingly to force the Justice Department to release more information about the case it built against Epstein.

“Short bursts indicate an ICE sighting. Long whistles indicate agents making arrests. If you hear the whistle and you’re undocumented, said [Whitney Hu, a community activist and organizer with South Brooklyn Mutual Aid], ‘you hide. And if you’re somebody who’s not, you go to the street.’”
As ICE Street Raids Ramp Up, New Yorkers Stock Up On Whistles
Taking a cue from Chicago, community groups have distributed thousands of whistles in recent weeks — a grassroots system people in other cities have adopted to help neighbors sound the alarm.

Julie Brown was for the Miami Herald. She actually cared about the victims, not the powerful.
And it is inexcusable she didn't win a Pulitzer for her work.
Watching people pour through the released Epstein files and just thinking how much better things would be if reputible, responsible, morally centered journalists had been fully engaged with the Epstein story from the beginning.

Here's Epstein and his circle talking about a possible video recording of the Saudi government's assassination of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, calling it "making Saudi sausage."

I genuinely do not get how Michael Wolff is getting a pass on this. He continues to do image rehab via his podcast with The Daily Beast, Inside Trump's Head, on which he says he would not do anything differently because this is how journalism is done.
How chummy is too chummy? Epstein emails shine light on relationships between journalists, sources
The emails to and from Jeffrey Epstein that were released this week shine a light on the relationship between reporters and their sources — and that light isn't always flattering.

I stayed up too late reading Epstein's emails and dms and I know I'm not the first to say it but holy shit all these people are so fucking stupid. The whole elite crew is full of the most idiotic, arrogant fucks in the world. Look at this exchange with a literary agent. "Keep it coming."

As Michael Wolff said on Dec. 11, 2017 at 5:45 p.m., according to recently released emails, "This is not going to end until Trump goes down."
Dershowitz: The predecessor on your show described Epstein as a convicted pedophile. He pleaded guilty to one count of having sex for money with a 17-year-and-10-month-old person. That’s not a pedophile.

one of my pet peeves is people who post about "the MSM stinks" etc but then don't want to be bothered to think about the fact that journalists also need to eat, have health insurance, and even wear shoes.
