Zora Neale Hurston.
Do people realize how many Black women ended up broke after sacrificing so much for the civil rights movement?

We don't make a coin from any of it. We go broke. We die broke. Y'all write about it and make millions.

We can no longer be bullied into sacrifice we cannot afford.

All this energy folks are investing in attempting to shame Black people could be invested in shaming groups that DIDN’T vote nearly 90% for the other candidate.
Black people trying to do “self care era” while the country is on fire around them is neither revolutionary nor will it work out that you’ll be able to check out from the horrible things that are about to take place

others… some of you folks really need to deeply reflect on what you are asking, why you are asking, and what your expectations are in the context of historical patterns of abuse and trauma. We are watching you wondering if it’s worth tagging in and you all are actively showing us why we shouldn’t.

I can’t trust someone who feels the need to dictate to me when and how I should fight. It’s mammification 101. We had the listen to Black women moment AND we were silenced. Hypervisibilized, made invisible, our bodies, minds, and spirits are viewed as service to and in servitude for the needs of

It’s disgusting honestly how angry folks are with Black folks. Ain’t no one said a thing when they were erasing stuff months ago. No one was walking with us when thousands of Black and Indigenous girls and women were missing. Where was the outcry around Black women making less than everyone? FOH.

Spend your efforts and energy convincing the white, Latino, Muslim, Asian delegations. Win them over so we will have a chance. The Black delegation has proven it’s reliable. Leave us alone.

We're not "checking out," we are taking care of ourselves and our communities, particularly because no one else wants to, which was made abundantly clear on 11/5. And no amount of shaming and emotional blackmail will change that.

Don't get it twisted.

A majority of white voters put Trump in office. 92% of Black women and 80% of Black men voted for Harris. This isn't their battle to fight. They've been leading the fight for democracy for over a century.

IT IS ON US WHITE VOTERS TO SAVE THE U.S.

And if you can't do that without help, too bad.

You should be talking to white people about their entire existence being the “self care era” and now you want mammies to take the bullet for your practices of white supremacy that have turned on you

it's not athletic. it's not stoic. it's not handsome. it's not accomplished. it's never been intellectual.

it's just rich white loud dudes on the TV who look like they don't wash their genitals? is that it?

The idea that blue states are some magic paradise of equity and red states are a monolith of bigotry is just as much a part of white supremacy and classism as the more overt lies that get tossed around.
There is a lot of talk about blue states resisting, etc. and this educator would humbly suggest that this is not the way forward.

I refuse to leave our people in red states behind. The Civil Rights Movement came from the Deep South. Red state progressives are some of the hardest working activists.

Got my first "Violating an Executive Order" and "I'll make sure you lose federal funding" parent threat today for teaching "DEI" books in our upcoming "Liberty and Justice" themed unit. Even in "Blue" Massachusetts we're dealing with this.

Anyway, don't obey in advance, and don't obey later.
