Gender is a construct.
All violence is connected.

Thinking some thoughts about how people can spend more effort sympathising with a man who *might* have lost *some* access to his kids than with a woman who actually did have her kids stolen for four entire years

I’m so confused. I haven’t been able to access the Woolworths website since yesterday? I’ve tried every browser,. On my phone, iPad, laptop. It just comes up with access denied every time.
What the hell.

I saw this on fb today so I’ve nicked it. Gave me quite the giggle.

If you’re against all this anti trans bullshit, you need to speak out. Do it for the kids. So many trans kids frightened right now.

Some of them will have loving families, some will not.

I think they need to hear your voices. I think that’s important.

Just a challenge x

I think probably around five or so years ago, I started thinking how ridiculous it is that a baby comes out of the womb, and its entire life is then predicated on its genitals, essentially. It’s just creepy and weird and yet we all carry on as if it’s a completely normal thing to do.

I started watching MAFS + stopped when I saw abusive behaviours producers were allowing.
Today, one of the women told me that she’s been watching it with her teen girl, and they sit and discuss the abusive behaviours, what to look out for, red flags etc.
Adrian? Her words: that was DV 101.

Lefties, libs. And whatever the equivalent is for ppl politically opp to that.
Hate those terms. All of them.

Just use

Fascists
And
Humanists.

A bit binary?

I guess those who swim in the “reasonable” middle might have to start taking a bit more of a position eh.

FYI 1737 is realistically not for ppl who are experiencing anything other than mild anxiety/depression etc.

I made the mistake of ringing them for someone else ONCE.

And glommed onto what it was, immediately.
Mental Health in Aotearoa:

You’re told to text 1737 if you need to talk to someone.
Then you get a reply to say they’re too busy. This is not a good thing, people.

‘If anything this is really just beginning. We've got the Regulatory Standards Bill that's going to be introduced at some point before June. That particular bill will do what the Treaty Principle's Bill was aiming to do, but in a different and just more sneaky way’

Exactly. Sneaky.
Treaty Principles Bill scrapped but the fight for Te Tiriti is just beginning - lawyers and advocates say
Legal experts and Māori advocates say the fight to protect Te Tiriti is only just beginning - as the controversial Treaty Principles Bill is officially killed in Parliament.

The subtext of Goldsmith and the other National MPs who spoke:
"We don't need this awkward Bill. We have all these other ways of undermining and sidelining Te Tiriti. Let's defeat this Bill so we can get on with them."
I despise the faux reasonable voice of Paul Goldsmith, he makes it clear in that faux reasonable voice that he/National don’t support this bill but neither do they support Te Tiriti and they will and are undermining its articles in a myriad of other ways that are just as detrimental. #nzpol

I feel like NZ fired the Treaty Principles Bill out of an old timey cannon today, at least metaphorically speaking (although I think some of us would have liked to have done so in practice too?) #nzpol

I’m very proud of my own work to oppose this iniquity, but prouder of what we did together, especially those engaging in politics for the first time. And - don’t judge - it was great to see the sullen looks on the faces of the ACT MPs this afternoon.

The Americans are screaming about the price of eggs. And meanwhile fascism creeps up on them. And they’re too busy looking the other way. We have to be so bloody vigilant. Cause it happens gradually and next thing…

Ppl tell me things they often have never told others. S/times when they’ve just met me. Mebbe I’ve got a face that looks like it might be kind or something. It’s either that or they realise that I’m post menopausal + my memory is shot + I won’t remember what they told me 10 mins later 🤣

I strongly suspect that the biggest fear of The Right would be for a Green-led govt to get in and introduce green-economic policies and we all see that you can run an economy without having to punch down and everyone sees that the whole time the cruelty was the point.
“Trickle-down politicians and their donors have spent at least 40 years coming after our public services, our media and our democracy, but it’s clear now more than ever that their real target has been our hope.”…

I know logic doesn't explain the anti-trans bigotry because that is not how hatred works, but it feels so bizarre to have been a cis woman for 50 years and to have lived in constant low-level fear of male violence for my entire life and I'm supposed to be turning all that fear onto... other women?
