Public discourse on this subject has utterly failed to direct citizens' attention to the actual problem, which is that a commercial industry is assaulting education. So every week we get another thoughtless op-ed on blue books or the death of the college essay, etc etc.

It’s going to be some bullshit respectability from the center and some bullshit bleating about identity politics from the left and some bullshit religious forgiveness from the right.

I’m just going to expire from unrequited rage.
It’s very very frustrating to know that there isn’t much chance of any accountability for this behavior after Trump
ICE detain father shopping on Christmas Eve—then steal his family's groceries.

Then 3 agents divvy up his paid for food—taking what they want for themselves.

"Can I just get the wife's number to call and let her know?" woman asks.

"No, guess he should've complied," agent says.

You gotta pay perks to clean up the Swamp!
I am telling you that a large part of their dysfunction is that several Trump officials imagine themselves, constantly, as being in a social media sizzle reel where they display status and dominance over others. Their online personas are driving their actual behavior.
Kash Patel made the FBI buy a custom fleet of armored BMW X5 for him to ride around in. trib.al/9pBbwTB

Patel’s FBI spokesperson claimed—without evidence—that this is actually saving the American taxpayer money. The standard version of the X5 costs about $70,000.

Wait a second, last week, Trump said it was still Biden's economy.
Lutnick: "Donald Trump's economy grew 4.3%. That means that Americans overall, all of us, are going to earn 4.3% more money. We're making a raise, it's a simple way to do it."

How did it change you as a law school to give torture memo author and evident war criminal John Yoo a tenured professorship?

It should be a shared premise across the ideological spectrum that individual Supreme Court justices hold too much power. The only other public officials in the world with a justice’s degree of power and influence … for as long as justices exercise it are dictators and monarchs.

Alex Abramovich did a beautiful job on this profile of Willie Nelson--and then had the good wisdom and humility to defer to Dylan to capture it far better than any longform writer could (or, more to the point, convey why it can't be captured), in a single paragraph.

surely the women's bathroom is a sacred space ive been told by conservatives
ICE agents illegally break into a woman's bathroom in a NY nutrition bar manufacturing plant. "Pull up your pants," says a male agent. The agents only had a warrant to review employer documents. They didn't have a warrant to search for, detain, or arrest anyone there.
