What a beauty, even if it does resemble a sardine can from the outside.

Do away goals count for more? Never easy getting out of the Colosseum unscathed.
Massive away win for the little fella.

Jan Molby, perhaps one of the most famous examples of an improbably unathletic midfielder with an exquisite touch and amazing passing. Tomas Brolin, Charlie Adam, Gazza and Charlie Miller all fitted this pattern throughout their career. There must be other examples.

Somewhat improbably, a veteran Guillermo Amor, former Barcelona and Spain midfielder, plies his trade for Scottish strugglers Livingston FC. Amor would make only 3 appearances for Livi in 2003 as they struggled to avoid relegation.

A brilliant goal by Josimar on his international debut for Brazil against N. Ireland in WC86. The right back's career would burn brightly fairly briefly as he moved from Botofogo to Sevilla, but a questionable attitude to the game saw him fail to fulfil his massive potential.

This afternoon Ipswich Town and Man Utd meet in the EPL. Travel back to 4/3/95 and George Burley fielded an aged defence of David Linighan, Frank Yallop, Neil Thompson & John Wark (ave. age 32) against the young flying machines of Kanchelskis and Giggs, with Andy Cole netting 5, Mark Hughes 2.

Rushed home from school like a maddie to see this game. The Argentina team were humbled
Francois Oman-Biyik’s leap for the winner vs Argentina at Italia 90 was insane.

Like a salmon on a trampoline.

Rinat Dasaev, epic goalkeeper for the USSR at Mexico 86. A name that'll strike a chord with those in their late 40s who collected the World Cup Panini sticker album.

Johnny Metgod had the right idea for playing football on a day like this. Not enough sheepskin gloves in the EPL.

Jim Tolmie and his luxuriant locks and 'tache combo. Definitely a place for this epic look in Guardiola's dressing room.

Ah. Happy days. When football was a simple game, played by blokes with big hair, big 'taches, and a big greener fired in your direction was just part and parcel of a European grudge match.

Scotland strung more passes together in a 5-min spell in the 1st half tonight than they did in the entire Euros. Really impressive performance tonight so far.

Jürgen Croy, accomplished GDR goalkeeper won 86 international caps between 1967-81. Croy spent his entire 372-game career with Sachsenring Zwickau, his hometown team, in spite of overtures to join the country's larger clubs. Croy played an integral role in the 1974 WC campaign in W Germany.

Murdo MacLeod, a Scotland international on 20 occasions and all-round good guy by all accounts, blazed a trail for Paul Lambert and (less successfully) Scott Booth by joining Borissia Dortmund in 1987. During his tenure at the Wedtfalenstadion he won the DFB Cup & Super Cup.
