Despite leading them to the #SerieA title in 1969, #Fiorentina sacked coach Bruno Pesaola after their 2-1 defeat to #Juventus on matchday 15 of the 1970-71 season with the Viola just two points off the bottom of the table. He was replaced by Oronzo Pugliese.

#Fiorentina signed striker Alessandro Vitali prior to the 1970-71 #SerieA season after he had impressed with 16 goals at #Vicenza the previous season. He struggled, scored just 6 goals for the Viola in the league, and was sold at the end of the campaign.
