A Bronze Age gold-worker’s hoard discovered near Urchfont, Wiltshire (WILT-C97E23). Wiltshire Museum hopes to acquire the hoard. The finder stopped digging when he realised what he had found, allowing archaeologists to block life the hoard and bring it to the British Museum for micro-excavation.

This gold half pound of Elizabeth I is one of the 1st coins minted by machinery. Eloy Mestrelle struck machine-made coins in England from 1561 to 1571. He was way ahead of his time, machinery did not supplant the hand-struck method in England until the 1660s. From the collection of The Hunterian.
