"Conservative groups, funded by fossil fuel magnates, spend $1B/yr interfering with public understanding of what is happening to our world. Few investments rival the return they've gotten from evangelicals."

An oldie but goodie makes the link between fossil fuels, climate denial, and U.S. religion.

Why do so many feel like they've fallen behind?

It's not because of immigrants, trans people, DEI, the “deep state,” or any other bogeyman trotted out by the GOP.

It's because big corporations and billionaires have rigged markets and siphoned off most of the economy's gains.

MAJOR: The Trump Administration has been caught lying about the D.C. shooting suspect.

The truth: He was vetted by Trump. He had a CIA badge, worked with the CIA in Afghanistan, and granted asylum by Trump in April.

If they want to slow down the Trump administration, Democrats should begin promising this *now*
We're gonna need a truth and reconciliation commission and Nuremberg style trials to reckon with all of this evil, and any Dem candidate for office who shies away from a full reckoning in the name of "moving forward as a nation" can get well and truly fucked
I feel much safer today knowing that we deported a Babson College student back to a country where she hasn't lived since childhood.

She wasn't even flying internationally. She was flying to Texas.

Popular policies do not become law when the government is structurally anti-democracy.

(Electoral College, gerrymandering, dark money, ...)
MEDICARE FOR ALL IS POPULAR: “A new poll finds 65% of voters support a Medicare for All system. That includes 78% of Democrats, 71% of independents, and 49% of Republicans.”

Making a broken system less bad is not enough. #MedicareForAllNow

Ever notice how we have a word "disobedience" for unreasonably *ignoring* an order, but no similar word for unreasonably *giving* an order?

It's almost as if the power incumbents want us to believe that the right to command is the default situation.

I think they guy saying, "You should ignore moral leaders & pay attention to my money" is maybe closer to being accurately described as antichrist.
In newly leaked audio, Peter Thiel admits he urged JD Vance to ignore Pope Leo XIV on moral questions — including the ethical development of AI.

He goes even further, branding Leo “the woke American pope” and suggesting he’s a tool of the Antichrist.

So... *lack* of COVID-19 vaccine during pregnancy causes autism risk?

That's... almost poetic justice.
NEW: A Harvard study found that the children of women who contracted COVID-19 while pregnant may be at an increased risk for autism and other neurodevelopmental diagnoses, raising new concerns about the CDC’s decision to stop recommending the vaccine to pregnant women.

There is no legitimate explanation to think Trump is good for anybody other than Trump unless you are willfully ignorant at this point.

Few things bug me more than higher ed leaders saying that we lost our mission and lost the trust of the public, when we have actually been the target of a decades-long smear campaign by the right wing that worked. The moment we’re losing our mission is right now, in capitulation.
