Aussie who is paying a lot more attention to US Politics than he wants to. Thanks, Tangerine Palpatine…

Passionate about family (partner and 2 boys), disability rights, sport (Geelong Cats, Arsenal, Marco Odermatt, Oscar Piastri) and equality.

Labor is failing to meet even Scott Morrison’s moral benchmark here. He brought Australian children home.

Albanese is refusing to repatriate citizens from Syrian camps despite US warning leaving them there ‘compounds risk to all of us.’ Utterly shameful. www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...

US offers to get Australians out of camps if they are issued with travel documents, but Labor has said ‘this is not something the government is considering’

My constituent, Wilmer, was mauled by an ICE attack dog despite the fact that, as he has consistently explained, he was not resisting arrest or trying to flee—his wife and young children, all U.S. citizens, were forced to watch helplessly as Wilmer was violently attacked and dragged away.

This every day of the week. What is the point of a labour government without compassion?
www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...

Somehow or other, someone has decided that we need less human involvement in human services.

Possibly because computers are so compassionate.

Disability has always been costly it's just that the biggest service was mostly provided by women - for free.

NDIS plans will be computer-generated, with human involvement dramatically cut under sweeping overhaul
Exclusive: Staff were told of major changes to the way NDIS funding and support plans will be made during a recent internal briefing

Total Grand Final domination from North Melbourne the appropriate manner in which to win their 27th straight game and second straight premiership. Phenomenal team, so disciplined and well-structured, deserve all the plaudits and success which comes their way. #AFLW

No skin in the game, but got to chuckle at this mob reporting through gritted teeth what is obviously a pretty good day for Melbourne. As for the reader comments ... 😂

All that said it’s hard not to watch this without a sense of weary despair… we won’t save this world will we. Somehow the momentary needs and greed of vested interest will win out. A tiny self-absorbed few will do for the rest of us… they’ll blight the future to line their pockets. Sod ‘em.

Seven million people came out on No Kings Day, the largest single-day protest in U.S. history, and then followed it up with sweeping every major race on Nov. 4. We did our job in the streets and at the polls. It’d be nice if Democrats in the Senate could get on board.

Hey. Hi. Tom Homan is on camera taking a $50k bribe and no one knows where the money went. If this was any other administration, this would be non-stop on the news. Why are we normalizing this stuff?

This is a breathtaking abuse of the law and power by the President of the United States.

America is on the brink of martial law.

Do not be silent.
This evening, President Trump is ordering 400 members of the Texas National Guard for deployments to Illinois, Oregon, and other locations within the United States. No officials from the federal government called me directly to discuss or coordinate.

hey @nytimes.com: there is no counterpoint here. There are no credible legal experts who would EVER say that the US military has any right or authority to blow civilian craft out of the Caribbean and kill their crews from afar without any provocation. There is no other side to this question.

People of Illinois, we need your help.

Get your cell phones out – record what you see. Put it on social media. Peacefully ask for badge numbers and identification. Speak up for your neighbors.

We need to let the world know this is happening – and that we won’t stand for it.

In any other country, if federal agents fired upon journalists when unprovoked — what would we call it?

If federal agents marched down streets demanding papers — what would we say?

Authoritarianism — let’s not pretend it’s something else when it happens in our American cities.

The President of the United States is threatening to go to war with an American city.

This is not a joke. This is not normal.

Donald Trump isn't a strongman, he's a scared man. Illinois won’t be intimidated by a wannabe dictator.
